Fun old school Mexican restaurant that takes you back to the 70's. I always get the #5 - crispy chicken taco, cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The salsa is firey hot and will rip your face off - I don't even think about having any until the water comes out. Excellent strong margaritas, too. I can't even finish one! However, there are only 5 or 6 parking spaces in the alley, and they don't have a valet anymore - and zero neighborhood parking. Take an Uber if you want to come here, or park on Exposition, a few blocks away.

Been buying Posole here for 50 years. It's quaint no fuss but the food is always authentic and reasonably priced. You won't be disappointed.

Something never seen before. The beef broth without rice on the side. They don't explain to you before that it depends on the size of the broth to give you rice. Wow! and if it's big they give you mashed beans ?. Beef broth with mashed beans! ? Never seen before. And they don't put potatoes in it either. They don't even give you lemons or sauce for your food and the one for the chips is very spicy when it's not supposed to be spicy because it's a snack. The child asks if they add grain and they say: "Yes. But only a little ? and why so little? Because not better than normal. We ordered tacos and since they were meat, we asked him to give us potato because we wanted it for a vegetarian and they charged us 75 cents more for changing it ? ? ? ? The flan never arrived so we told them not to put it on the bill. We weren't going to want it anymore. And the meatballs don't put anything on them. Zero. It doesn't have vegetables Pure water with 3 balls of meatballs. So you will know if you want to go there. As a warning, there is no deception. I will leave this message until the owners see it and improve this. The rice is not expensive. After a few days, they will be I take it off so you can see that I'm not a gacha.

The BEST carne asada nachos on the westside. Nachos are a nice big portion enough to share. The carne asada is nice and juicy. I also like the chile relleno and the fried tacos. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. This place is a must try if you are looking for authentic mexican food.

The Talpa is My Favorite Mexican Restaurant in West LA, it was My Father's Favorite too, everybody knew him, a lot of his friends were regulars at Talpa. He would take our Family to eat at Talpa on Special Occasions, since I was a kid in the 1970's. The Rice, Beans, and Salsa are always on point. My Favorite Dish is the #17, Taco, Burrito plate, The Menudo, and Pozole are Great too. To My Brother and I, It's always a treat to eat at Talpa, besides the Great Mexican Food, it brings back nostalgic memories, it reminds us of our late Father, some of The Waitresses still remember him.

Friendly staff, the waitresses need to work on checking tables for service. Certain simple requests took too long. Good place overall.Parking: Free parking but for very few cars and tight space for bigger vehicles.Wheelchair accessibility: Very tight inside for someone in wheelchair maybe ok on a slow day, but if it's busy, not recommend.
