Such kind workers. I went here for Dine LA and had a good experience. They even told us there is a nearby parking lot so that we do not have to park on the street. The meal was great and filling. They replaces the hot plate a few times and I was able to cook all the meat so that I could take it home for leftovers.

Mushroom gravy hamburg, tuna tataki, and chicken katsu were delicious. Great happy hour. My server, Jae was great and the food and drinks were great. Picture:

4.5/5 - I really liked this place! Parking was a little difficult (they have a lot around the back, as well as a metered parking lot across the alley, but not a lot of street parking). As soon as we walked into the restaurant, however, we were seated immediately - which was a little surprising considering it was peak dinnertime on a Saturday night. Service was fine - food came out fast, but we had to flag down the waiter to refill water. Interestingly, they gave us smaller water cups than the other tables but we didn't mind. There seemed to be a language barrier when ordering however, and the waiter didn't really understand my English. We got the Hamburg with Egg and Cheese, the Sweet Potato Cheese katsu, and the Tuna Tataki. The Hamburg was SO GOOD!! I loved that we could cook it to our liking, and their sauces were flavorful. The Katsu was alright; the meat was pretty thin and they didn't give me any cheese... but I'm going to say it was just miscommunication. The Tuna Tataki was also good, but nothing noteworthy. Overall, I'd come back for the Hamburg (and maybe to try the Ribeye)!

I came here for lunch one day during Dine L.A. to try it out. I had walked past it on several lunch breaks before but, since it was on the Dine L.A. list, I decided to give it a try. When I walked in, I got the best service! The owner seemed to be doing mostly everything himself which was greatly appreciated. He was very helpful in showing me how to do the "Tokyo Hamburg" and was great serving me and other tables. I ordered the Dine L.A. lunch which came out it's an appetizer, (I picked gyoza) main course (Tokyo Hamburg) and dessert (Japanese style cookies and cream ice cream)The Tokyo Hamburg was a hunk of fancy ground beef with onions on the side. There was also cabbage with a sauce on the side. I received my lesson on how to cook the meat and was good to go. I cooked the meat and onions on a very hot stone and enjoyed it with rice. The gyoza was tasty and perfectly crispy on the outside and savory on the inside. The dessert was the highlight for me. It was so delicious and creamy and had a hint of matcha flavor to it. If you're looking for a unique Japanese dining experience, Tokyo Hamburg is the place!

I saw this restaurant on IG and couldn't wait to try it the next time I was in LA which was last weekend. We tried the cheese Hamburg and the wagyu katsu. Both were delicious but I would say that the Hamburg was a unique dish and my favorite! The server was so helpful with tips on how to cook both dishes and made our first time an enjoyable one. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

For mains, we ordered a chicken katsu, sweet potato hamburg, curry udon, and 2 cook your own gyukatsu plates. The portions are fairly large and enough to fill your stomach. The chicken katsu took a long time to come; everyone else was nearly done eating already. Of the 2 gyukatsu, one had no marbling while the other had some, and this is very disappointing for gyukatsu. The pieces are also cut a bit too thin, which makes them flimsy when grilling on the hot stone. We also ordered a plate of wings, which were over cooked and the pieces are very skinny.Their service was a mixed bag and their team feels very uncoordinated. As I said, one of our mains came very late and they also didn’t seem too knowledgeable about the drinks they served. But also, the owner came and gave us a free bottle of soju as newcomers and a slice of cheesecake for my birthday, so that is very kind. At the very least, they are working hard and trying their best.

I used to like watch Japanese drama and most of the time I saw people there like Hamburg meat with rice. I was craving for this dish for awhile. I did some research and found this place. Visited on a weekday noon and got a lunch special deal. The food smell was so good that even waiting is enjoyful. Finally! I got my food. WOW, after I took my first bite, I felt tears in my eyes. It was so good and the price is so cheap. I cannot believe it. Also the service here is just like I'm back to grandma's home. Welcoming and comfort. Love it!

I visit this restaurant often! food delicious atmosphere good people are kind except for one waiter constantly asking for tips! I myself would give it to people like him who demand it, I don’t want to, so I started coming in less

The food took a long time to be served but it was worth the wait. The food is certainly freshly made and even the side of macaroni is well dressed. The curry is not spicy and having a bit more kick would have been nice. There aren't a lot of servers around, so things do take a while.

What a chill vibesy spot! If you're solo eating or with a large group, this place is perfect. The original Hamburg was so delicious. The meat quality was outstanding. The service was lightening fast. Good music. Good beer. Good vibes.

I came here around 6:30 pm on a Saturday with a party of 2. The place was not busy when we arrived so we were seated right away. It takes a bit of time for the food to come out. But I have a feeling some of the servers were kinda new. They forgot to bring us water even after I asked twice. My friend ordered the Tokyo hamburg. The meat was good and presentation was cool. You pull off pieces from the hamburg and cook it on a sizzling stone plate. It was kinda hard to pull pieces off since the inside is raw so it stuck to our chopsticks. When the stone cooled down, the server replaced it for us right away. We later realized we were suppose to get a fork and knife to cut/cook the hamburg with. I ordered the katsu and udon combo, but they gave me a regular katsu combo instead... I told one of the servers right away and they apologized, checked in the back, and then told me that udon will be out in 3-5 minutes. I waited a few minutes and decided I might as well start eating what they gave me since it doesn't seem like they were going to take the katsu combo plate away. 20 minutes pass, we both finish eating and there is no sign of any udon coming. At that point we already ate what we had and we're full and didn't want the udon anymore. So we just call for the check. On the bright side, when the server brought the check over, she realized that my dish did not match what was on the receipt and apologized and updated our receipt to match what we had. Funny enough, she was also the same person I originally notified when I got my order wrong and was missing udon... Overall, the food was good. The service was hit or miss depending who was helping. The restaurant did get busier during our meal. When it got busier, it felt like they were a little understaffed and some of the servers were not as attentive.
