this place only accepts cash and if you don’t give the exact amount of money that’s on the bill they will keep the change and not want to give any change back and say it’s their tip. my total was 30bucks so i paid with 2 20 dollar bills and they didn’t want to give any change back and said it was tip so basically they don’t give change back which is ridiculous

This restaurant was great until they took my favorite meals off the menu like roast duck over rice and steamed shrimp in a pot so I've been coming here for like 30 years so goodbye torung

I love this place—I’ve been coming here forever! Affordable prices and such a cozy little hole-in-the-wall. I especially love eating here when it rains. Sitting by the window with a hot bowl of tom yum soup and fresh rolls is perfect. The view of the street, the rain, and the neon lights reflecting on the pavement makes it such a vibe. It’s a great spot for people-watching and exploring Thai Town. The service is always lovely too.

Rude waitress! Currently on the phone with my best friend as she ate at this place. Her meal came out to $18. She gave $20. The waitress took the money and didnt return. My friend loved the food and told me she wants to give them $10 tip. The waitress kept making eye contact with her, giving her strange looks but never gave her a receipt or change. My friend asked for her change and the waitress said “the tip is not included.” My friend gave her the $10 tip and told her not to assume. The waitress approached another staff member, said something and laughed. My friend then told her it was rude and she shouldn’t make assumptions. My friend has eaten at this place many times. They lost a customer who loved this place. She also said the Thai tea was bad.

Overall average I should say. Food tasted great but portions were relatively smaller. Biggest issue for me was that they said they only take cash which isn't great.

Aboid this place if you care about food quality and service!!!

I really wanted to like this restaurant — the food looked good, and I came in hoping for a nice meal. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected, and it all came down to the service.

I ordered several dishes, including a Pad Thai with extra shrimp. When my food arrived, I immediately noticed it didn’t look like there was an extra order added. I politely mentioned it to the server, but instead of handling it professionally, she actually came to my table and started counting the shrimp on my plate. I was honestly shocked — not only is that unsanitary, but it just felt so disrespectful.

She said the regular Pad Thai comes with six shrimp and the extra order adds another six. After counting, she found eleven and told me only one was missing. Then she asked if I had already eaten one because, according to her, the cook insisted he had added all the extra shrimp. I hadn’t even touched my food yet. That comment really bothered me — it felt like she was implying I was lying.

A few minutes later, she brought me one tiny shrimp on a small plate, completely unseasoned, and just walked away. From that point on, she barely checked on our table, even though the restaurant was practically empty. It made the whole meal uncomfortable, and honestly, I lost my appetite.

I still left a decent tip because I understand times are hard, but this experience left me disappointed and a bit disgusted. I’ve eaten at so many restaurants and have never seen someone handle a customer concern this way. That’s just unacceptable!

To the owner — please take this as honest feedback. The food was decent, but your staff needs better training in how to treat customers with respect. No one should have their plate touched or be made to feel like they’re being accused of lying over something as simple as a missing shrimp. This restaurant has potential, but that kind of service really ruins it.

Love dining at this place. The food is amazing. I have tried different Thai restaurants and the flavor is the best. No other Thai food place can compare to Torung. I enjoy it so much I have dinner there almost every Saturday and always order the coconut seafood soup with extra fish on the side, so yummy

I have been coming to this establishment for nearly 30 years, and it saddens me to say how much it has changed. For decades, this was one of my favorite places to visit—a spot I would happily drive 35 miles to enjoy, because the food, service, and overall atmosphere always made the trip worthwhile. Unfortunately, in recent years, the experience has gone downhill, especially when it comes to customer service.

On multiple occasions now, I’ve arrived well before closing, only to be turned away. Most recently, at 11:14 pm, we were told we could neither dine in nor order food to go, even though the kitchen doesn’t close until 11:30 pm. After almost three decades of being a loyal customer, I know the policies and times well, and “last call” has always been understood to mean 11:30 pm, not 15 minutes earlier. It is extremely frustrating to make such a long drive, only to be refused service before the actual cutoff time.

What’s most disappointing is not just being turned away, but the unprofessional manner in which it’s handled. The warm hospitality and consistency that once defined this place seem to have disappeared, replaced with a dismissive attitude that makes longtime customers feel unwelcome.

Sadly, as much as it pains me to say this after so many years of loyalty, I no longer feel valued as a customer and will not be returning. It’s truly unfortunate to see such a beloved place lose what made it special.

Very good authentic Thai restaurant.
food is delicious. some dish are spicy, not insane spicy, but if you don't tolerate spicy, it might not be to your taste.
Yellow coconut curry is delicious. fried fish and fresh ginger is bomb, if you like fish, it s a must try.
