The cake was a real disappointment this time. I first tried Tu Cha about a year ago when it was trending on TikTok, and back then it was honestly really good. Yes, the price was expensive, but the taste and quality made it feel worth it. I went back a couple more times with my family and everyone agreed it was great.

However, I recently visited again (yesterday) after not going for several months, and the difference in quality and taste was very noticeable. My family was also disappointed because it didn’t taste the way it used to. Spending $125 on four cakes and one ice cream cup felt like a complete waste. Especially the mango, it doesn’t taste like a mousse that I used to know, instead it tastes like jelly-texture. With the decline in quality and the high price, it really isn’t worth it anymore. You can also tell the store isn’t as packed as it used to be.

We also went there specifically to try the ice cream. To compare, we actually bought two versions—one from the Tu Cha store and one from Zion Market since the packaging looked different. The one from Zion Market (the packaging with fruit artwork) had mango and peach flavors inside, and the strawberry ice cream even looked better with more texture. The one from the Tu Cha store (packaging without fruit artwork) didn’t include mango, and the peach flavor actually looked more like apple, the coating of the ice cream also looks very bad and lumpy. Taste-wise they were somewhat similar, but the retail version from Zion Market was actually more flavorful. For $22 after tax, it really wasn’t worth it. The ice cream was pretty underwhelming—we expected a much stronger flavor profile, but it mostly tasted like vanilla cream with a bit of added flavor. The chocolate coating also had a waxy taste.

Overall, it was truly disappointing. I used to love Tu Cha, but after this experience, I probably won’t be coming back.

We came here as my wife has been wanting to come here for years and it didn’t disappoint. While you are visiting LA you definitely need to come here. As we are from Australia we wanted to come as Catherine Zhang has done a fantastic job creating all the magical items on the menu.

I tried Tu Cha and it was fine, but nothing special. The taste was okay, not bad, not amazing.

What stood out more than anything was the price. Paying $14 for a single dessert is excessive for what you get. You can walk into T&T supermarket and get something that tastes better for a fraction of the cost.

Overall, it feels overhyped and overpriced relative to the actual quality. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

It’s not all that. I honestly didn’t like the tatse of the fruit cakes.. too sweet. They are pretty pricy. First time trying them. I wont be back.

Visually appealing desserts but the taste could have been much better. The quality and taste does not really justify the high price.

This is not worth the hype at all. We got the peach, mango, berry, and devil fruit desserts and they had little to no flavor at all. You can barely taste anything in the peach and mango desserts. The strawberry and devil fruit you could taste but I don’t believe was worth all the money and online attention. Their fruit tea with boba was really good, that was nice. Overall if you just like the aesthetic of it then this can be for you. The fruit desserts are definitely made for presentation, just not so much for taste.

I really want to give it 5 stars but it’s not quite there yet. First thing first, we appreciate the free parking, fast service, and clean facility. However, the desserts itself are not as good as we expected. We truly understand that this kind of desserts requires a lot of time, technique, and good ingredients, so that’s why they are on a pricey end which is fine to us, but the Bing Chillin Bites are just regular ice cream to us. We don’t spot anything special in flavors. The citrus lemon mousse was also just alright. We love the lemon inside but not a fan of the mousse. It’s a little too gelatinous for us. Also from our photo, you could see that the lemon sauce was a lot, yet we were not offered a plate even we selected dine in option. We don’t think we will go back to try
different options because the first time did not leave a good impression to us. We support the idea and talents of the team tho. We hope they change a few things for better.

Mango cake looked good, but it wasn’t chilled when I got it. It was sweating, the cookie bottom got soggy and stuck to the box, and the cake cracked when I lifted it. Not the quality I expected.
