We have been wanting to go for some time, so were super stoked to get here this week. Food was delicious. We loved the okra salad and definitely the Maafe stew. Yum! Definitely recommend those. Mike enjoyed his cocktail. Service was spot on. The welcoming was awesome and our server was kind, friendly, and super excited about the menu. We will be back.

This place is wonderful. Loved the food, the service, and the decor and vibes inside. My absolute favorite was the lions mane pie!

I've been wanting to come to Ubuntu for months but hadn't been to LA in a while to do so. Finally made it and this was the first place I hit upon landing. We ordered a lot of things and everything tasted great. What I found myself enjoying the most was the maafe and the grilled cabbage. Yum! Definitely nice to come here with a group so you can try everything.

The reason I gave this wonderful restaurant 4 stars is how the pricing escalates if you come with a group larger than 7. The first time I came with three, the cost was approximately $50.00 each w drinks ($147.00). Last night I came with 8 and the pricing increased 100%. For 8 people our bill came to $853.00, which came to $100+ per person, a 100% increase! I love this restaurant but the sticker shock at the end dampened our enjoyment.

The food was incredible and some of the best tasting food I’ve ever had. Menu was diverse and the drinks not too sweet. Interior is very warm and inviting and the garden area looked nice too. Really just order everything on the menu because that’s what I would do if I went back.

Great new spot with delicious food. Don’t ever read reviews written by Infatuation. It’s a poor mans Eater with interns masquerading as food critics. Yikes. This place is excellent and so needed in a city as big as LA with woefully limited offerings of African delights done well. Reserve a spot and you won’t be disappointed except when its time to leave.

Device was great, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The food was all delicious. A couple of plates were a little spicy for me, but my friend enjoyed them :) The trumpet mushrooms were my favorite, but quite pricey for a very small serving.

Amazing food. It reminded me of the southern food of my Kentucky grandmother or my Carolina/Virginia days but made with the flair and taste buds of an Iron Chef. You get the comfort food as simple as okra or grits, but at the same time, they are worthy of any NY/LA/Paris restaurant ever. The staff is attentive and able to answer any question. You won't feel rushed, but you will feel pampered. The drinks are excellent also. Decorated with just the right atmosphere. I can't think of a single thing that could be improved.

OOOF. The social justice warrior in me wanted to give this place 5 stars. West African, female owned, vegan. But, sadly, 2 stars it is. The lack of parking was the first kicker. We had to park around the street on a residential with super hard to find and very limited spots. The food was good, albeit in small portions, and one of our dishes came out room temp. The real deal breaker, though, was that the staff seemed to be tag teaming our table and the right hand was clearly not talking to the left. Our food took soooo long to come out, multiple things were forgotten, a "make it up to you" dessert was brought out, but it wasn't the one we chose. And then, after this fiasco of a meal, the final server of the night was soooo happy and proud to ask me what I thought of it all. Ummm, my friend, do you want honesty, or politeness? Staff needs to communicate to each other better, and the tag team wait staff needs to be more seamless. One and done on this spot.

Went here with my work colleagues last night. Food was delicious. Drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is beautiful and the music was mostly West African. Everybody loved it. And only two of us are vegan so that tells you something. Also, have lots of gluten-free options, which is amazing for my husband and I. This is a gem. And the weight service is fantastic. So friendly and helpful.

Came here last Sunday for lunch with a group size 7. Didn’t know what to expect and had some skeptical meat eaters in the mix. However, wow - what a delightful spot with seriously delicious food and wonderful people serving. Being a bigger size we had to get a set prix fixe menu but it was actually very fortuitous. It allowed us to try practically the whole tasty menu. From the presentation to the helpful servers explaining each dish - what more could you ask for. Honestly, this was surprisingly one of the best experiences of service Ive had in LA. Just an all around great vibe and a really pretty place. And there’s a bar! I hope this place is an LA mainstay. It’s new and we were just wanting our party to have a taste of west Africa. Had no idea they were literally going to SERVE. Thank you for a happy and satisfying food experience from beginning to end. Loved the okra salad, jollof arancini, red red stew, puff puff bread and yummy ice cream. Special shout out to the corn bread. A crowd pleaser with a desserty spin.

Truly incredible. When I say the vibes were immaculate I have never meant that more in my life. The decor was beautiful, the playlist was incredible, the drinks were amazing and the food was better than all of that. Our server was kind, funny, charismatic and spot on with his recommendations and I saw the bartender make a ginger ale from scratch for an older woman sitting at the bar. We got several plates, most of the things on the menu are tapas style so it can get a bit expensive, but it was all worth it and absolutely delicious.Vegetarian options: The entire restaurant is plant based.Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is plant based.
