What an experience! I didn't even do the chef experience and got such a wonderful dinner! I was so jealous of the people experiencing it so I'm definitely doing that next time

I celebrated my first anniversary here and it was such a joy. Some people get worried they will leave a Michelin star restaurant hungry. But i was stuffed!!!

Everyone at the restaurant was amazing, kind and really took care of you! I kind of just want to come back just to experience that as well!

Since their menu constantly change, I think it's just best to say: trust the chef. You won't regret it! Or let the pictures do the talking!

I'm 100% coming back with my family to treat them to this!

I have to say - this was not an experience worthy of $1k and I’m extremely disappointed with how the meal turned out.

We were a little frazzled because while we arrived on time - we couldn’t find the entrance to the restaurant. We received a pre-meal text with a number to call with can questions/issues, but there was no answer to our multiple calls - we finally got a call back about 15 min later just as we had finally located the restaurant. That being said - the team was very gracious about our tardiness and we sat down at 5:15pm.

The meal and service started on a good note and by the second course we were caught up to the other two tables. But course by course and as a few additional seatings arrived, the experience went downhill. Overall the majority of the food was great and we were so impressed with the chef’s talent, but the pacing of the meal got slower and slower to the point that by the 3rd dish every plate was delivered with an apology and the server thanking us for our patience because each one took longer than the last. Descriptions and instruction of how to enjoy each dish were unclear. And What started as a calm, buttoned-up experience turned into servers rushing around, and having side conversations because there was a complete lack of coordination. Overall - dinner lasted almost 3.5 hours. We booked a 5pm reservation thinking that would be more than enough time to get to our other concert engagement which started at 8pm but we did not leave the restaurant until 8:45pm and arrive at our engagement until 9:20pm.

More frustrating that that though we paid for the pairing and not one but TWO of the pairings were forgotten three pairing to be out of order. At one point - we had 3 differently sakes in front of us. It began right before the off-menu course. The gentleman delivered our sake pairing followed by the course. About 5 min after we finished that course he came out with a different sake and apologized because it was supposed to be served with the previous course which he has forgotten so we were essentially asked us imagine what it would have tasted like with the previous plate. As a result - that meant we also drank the original sake we received (which was intended for the upcoming course) with the previous course leading to two incorrect pairings. This was frustrating but mistakes happen so we accepted the apology and carried on. THEN - 2 courses later it happened again! We received our Wagyu course and no pairing was delivered. Something told me that was wrong but I assumed there was no way that could happen again. Sure enough - about 10 minutes after finished that course - our plates were cleared and we were given the green tea. Right after that - the gentleman came rushing out and realized that we were beyond that course and one again apologized that he missed another one of our pairings - but once again - “imagine” how it would have tasted with the wagyu. Three pairings not paired. Honestly - entirely unacceptable.

And lastly - I chose UKA as a surprise for my partner to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and provided that information when booking my reservation. I expected this to be a very special night and was quite disappointed that there was not even an acknowledgment of the special occasion for our visit. I am not looking for any sort of freebies - I just don’t understand why you would ask if we are celebrating a special occasion if that information is going to be ignored.

I reached out and emailed the restaurant directly about these issues before posting my review and have heard nothing in response after both of my emails. Sadly, I do not feel I was provided the product or experience I paid premium price for and would not recommend.

Our experience at Uka was phenomenal. We requested to be seated at the chef’s counter for the nine-course kaiseki. The subtle harmony of flavors and textures were so satisfying and the atmosphere and service provided by the team took it to the next level. I absolutely love that they guide you along the fine dining journey which felt like luxury among friends.

Each bite was a discovery and something that we will cherish until our next visit.

A great "keiseki" dining experience in a quiet private setting in the Ovation center. We (party of 6) went on a night when it wasn't too busy and we enjoyed an almost private dining experience with attentive staff, great food, and fine sake wine. The menu that night was seafood focused (although there was a Wagyu course), and everything was very fresh and good. The timing of courses was excellent (we noted the chef was positioned to be able to monitor the pace of each table), and the presentation of the individual dishes was top notch! Dinner at Uka would be comparable to a "Japanese Providence" for those that enjoy Providence or Le Bernardin (which we call "Providence East"). The highlight was actually the bottles of sake that we tried at the recommendation of the "sake sommelier." Definitely one of the best sake tasting and pairing experiences for us. In keeping with the quality and ambience, be prepared for a fine dining experience with fine dining prices.

UKA kaiseki will become a force in the LA dining scenes. If I have to nit-pick, the dessert was the weakest link. However, by no means, it was still good. Just not as impressive as the other dishes. Thank you !

Everything was absolutely amazing. 5 stars. Sashimi course was some of the freshest fish we’ve ever had. The attention to detail by chef and his team was top notch.

I had my first kaiseki meal and was very impressed. Each item was carefully designed and I was excited to eat it. The flavor was very delicious, with the gentle flavor of the dashi soup spreading in your mouth.I was also impressed by how delicious the sashimi and meat were, melting in my mouth. At the end, I received a surprise job congratulations, which made me very happy. At the counter seats, you could watch the chef's cooking up close, which was very impressive. Also, I was happy to hear various stories from the chef about cooking, overseas, etc. Also, everyone was very kind and courteous, and it was such a fun time that I would like to go again.Thank you for the fun memories of Los Angeles! ! !

I congratulated my daughter on getting a job. It was a wonderful restaurant, the food was exceptionally delicious, the chef and staff were friendly and warm, and we had a very happy time. What surprised me was that all the dishes were delicate and each item had a deep flavor, but the taste was even gentler.I was able to enjoy the food even more by sitting at a counter seat and having the chef explain the food to me.The first thing that surprised me was the soup stock. I had the basic soup stock. When I took a bite, my mouth was filled with a soft, gentle flavor. Next, when I served the soup with salt, the flavor of the soup became much more pronounced and the deliciousness spread. For the sashimi, the chef used the entire Yanagiba knife to make the squid sashimi, which was very beautiful and worth watching. It was even more delicious if you watched the beautiful way a single piece of squid was made! For the dessert, the chef wrote a message for my daughter and me, which made me feel very happy. The gorgeous dessert I received after the Japanese cuisine was a delight in both appearance and taste! The view of Hollywood from the restaurant was wonderful, and the delicious Japanese food and Hollywood were a perfect match.Thank you for the delicious, fun and happy time.It was an exceptionally delicious dish, and one that I wanted to feed to my family. It tasted nice and made me happy.I feel that the chef and staff were warm and attentive, creating a comfortable and pleasant space.Thank you so much.
