We had a wonderful dinner experience at Umberto's Trattoria and Cantina! Our group of six was warmly welcomed by Tony, our friendly and attentive server. We were seated in one of the cozy dining rooms, which was both comfortable and perfect for conversation.
The menu is a unique and appealing blend of Italian and Mexican specialties—ideal for a group with varied tastes. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including the flavorful Carne Asada, a satisfying Quesadilla, a generous Antipasto Plate, and two orders of classic Pasta Pomodoro. I especially loved the Umberto’s Pasta with penne, broccoli, and sun-dried tomatoes—I requested Alfredo sauce on the side and used it sparingly, and it turned out to be a fabulous choice!
The margarita was excellent, and we were impressed by the wide selection of beer and wine available.
For dessert, we shared the Tartufo al Pistachio, Mixed Berry Cheesecake, and Chocolate Mousse—all of which were delicious and beautifully presented.
They also offer a daily Happy Hour from 3–7 pm (except Sundays when they are closed), featuring great specials on a wide selection of appetizers and drinks. The bar area is relaxed and inviting—perfect for winding down or meeting friends.
Located right on Sepulveda freeway close across from he Getty Museum, Umberto’s is a fantastic midway stop for commuters traveling to and from the San Fernando Valley. A great place to relax and unwind and let the traffic calm down! There’s convenient parking in the garage, and the restaurant offers several dining rooms that can accommodate up to 100 guests—making it an excellent venue for group events.
Highly recommended!

Sorry to say that dinner was overall a very disappointing experience--perhaps an off night. We were first told we could order a main dish on the menu, eggplant parmesan, after the waiter checked with kitchen, and when the other main dish was served to me, we were told my husband's order was not available, and had to order something else. Overall, the food was quite heavy on garlic. And then when it came time for ordering dessert for my birthday, particularly after all the garlic, we were told they did not have any dessert that night.

This place needs to step up their game if they're going to continue to charge premium rates they're fettuccine alfredo wasn't fettuccine alfredo the fish tacos had
such a small piece of fish you couldn't even see it inside the tortillas their water is tap water and their pipes need to be redone not even filtered it's too bad because it has potential the bartender was a nice guy he is both the bartender and the waiter. Very nice guy very attentive good dude, a pretty place that's for sure

Stumbled across this place looking for somewhere to stop waiting for traffic to die down after visiting the Getty. I’m so grateful we decided to stop here. Our server Tony was one of the best servers I’ve had in a while. I trusted every one of his recommendations and don’t regret it. the drinks were great, the food was delicious, I highly recommend waiting out rush hour here.
A perfect hidden gem in the heart of Bel Air & 405 cross roads. As I was driving up to 405N freeway and stuck in massive Friday rush hour I saw their parking sign and I immediately made the choice to stop for a drink & a quick bite to pass the rush hour grid!
The hospitality of Tony the bartender was incredible, I got greeted immediately
& got served the Umberto’s passion a beautiful refreshing gin drink with their sliders (super delicious & fresh)
The restaurant has a beautiful dinning area with an added private dining room, perfect for intimate parties.
It also had that European charm to its ambiance. Will highly recommend a visit especially if you are stuck in traffic.
Great hospitality with delicious menu & charming ambience
Cheers

First time here great experience with Tony, he is funny and professional now we Will def be coming back!. Drinks are amazing! Thank you for a great first impression!🙏🏼
Food is ok, but over priced. Also, small quantities as well. Close to $30 for small piece of lasagna. Almost $50 for a piece of mediocre sea bass. Definitely not worth it. Don’t really get the great reviews this restaurant has. Also, bread they bring out is the cheapest type of white bread you can get. I don’t see how this place can survive.
The former Bel Air Bar and Grille has been reimagined and is now a combo Mexican / Italian eatery. Still a bit of a work in progress but worth the visit. We've been twice and have invited friends to accompany for a 3rd visit soon.
The whole restaurant smelled like gasoline! It was because they are located next to a gas station. I would NEVER recommend anyone to this restaurant.

Impossible to get a hold of anyone on the phone now. Some robotic answering machine instead of a real person. I will be taking my business elsewhere!
My friend and I stumbled upon this spot after visiting the Getty Museum, and it ended up being the highlight of our day! The margaritas were incredible—especially the dragon fruit one, which was perfectly balanced between strong and not too sweet. The vibe was relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind while waiting out traffic. We'll definitely be back!
Last night we meet some friends at Umberto’s for dinner. Anthony gave us the VIP treatment and explained one of the evening’s specials, Surf and Turf, and explained where they sourced their meat from, so we tried it and we were not disappointed‼️ Two others had pasta dishes and enjoyed those and two had the margarita pizza, which was also very tasty. I love this little, local restaurant and will be back again❣️
Location is quite deceiving...However food and service were great! Make sure to check out the happy hour menu. Next time I’m in the area I will make a point to stop in!
