Gave the 18% before looking at the food. Bottom line, another toilet of a restaurant. Overpriced, they say Japanese but more Korean/ Mexican. They don’t even know what Sashimi is let alone Udon. It’s not supposed to be pasta…..everything is a complete failure, no quality control, just incompetence.Ordered (1) Salmon & (1) Spanish Mackerel sashimi; (1) roll tuna sushi & Udon soup with tofu. ….& a root beer. Receipt attached but obviously aside from being cheated, got vomit in styrofoam & a napkin

Amazing quiet sushi place in west Hollywood. Absolutely delicious. The chef is incredibly talented and our server was very sweet ? happy we stumbled upon this place for dinner. We ordered another round to go as soon as we were done!

Wow, what an amazing atmosphere as well as dining experience. Very cute and cozy sushi restaurant. Such an above exceptional experience! The waitress, Young, was so kind, friendly and attentive. She made great conversation and had an interest in what we had to say! She made great recommendations and described our inquired menu items perfectly! Excellent service by her! And the food was unbelievable! Great quality fish and portion sizes. Definitely worth the price. The chef definitely knows what they’re doing. Over all great experience. We will be coming back next time we’re in the Hollywood area!

Best sushi of LA! So close to the Japanese tradition! Food is high quality and the service is amazing… it’s not the American style that they rush you out of the door…I hope you guys are still open…

Umeda is hands down the best restaurant in LA. Bazaar by Jose Andres was my favorite for years, with its unique and inventive takes on classic Spanish food. Umeda does the same with Japanese food. Nothing is ordinary. The flavors and textures are new and extraordinary every time, and the freshness is incomparable. Every time we experience Umeda I marvel at what a gem it is. Unhurried but attentive service, uncluttered and peaceful design and decor. I could eat here every day and still find new things to try instead of relying on just a favorite dish or two.

The owner chef, wife and head server woman long time ago from Matsuhisa are not good, Although they are not good at operations, they just put the responsibilities and mistakes on other servers. They don't even know well about fish, either. They call Aji as Spanish mackerel which is exactly Sawara!!! They should treat all the servers equally and fairly!!!

No complaints about this place. Great sushi, fresh tasting and great presentation. I love the ambiance of this restaurant as well as the cleanliness. Every dish was a favorite. I would be perfectly happy coming here again and eating the same exact thing. It's that good! Very pleasant experience.

Best Japanese meal - Sushi, Wappa, appetizers i have had in LA. No joke and i am not easy to please. I have lived 6 blocks from this place since they opened. I am kcking myself for not trying it sooner.

I had black cod crab crab rice cake mixed sashimi fried oyster lettuce yellowtail sushi The sashimi was good. The cod and crab rice cake were decent but comparable to other cheaper restaurants. The oyster is not fresh. Yellowtail was mediocre. It is like 200 with nothing great here.

Umeda is a fantastic sushi spot. They keep it real with quality cuts of fish and innovative dishes—not the spot for rolls drenched in mayo and sauces if that's your thing. It's a splurge, but you're getting quality for your coin. Front of House staff and chefs are awesome!

CRAZILY OVERPRICED!!! i'm japanese and I know what Chirashi looks like. what they gave me was NOT that & the cheapest looking thing I have ever paid $35 for. they didn't even fill up the XS container lol I don't know how anyone would run a business this way. just unacceptable and disappointed. never returning nor recommending to anyone. RIP

We really enjoyed this place. The service was great. The food quality was great. I would come here again and again. I only give it 4 out of 5 stars because it's a little pricey.

It was empty except 2 other people eating there. Smelled a little funny and wasn't particularly an upscale ambiance - but these are certainly upscale prices! $9 for one bite-sized cod lettuce cup. It was yummy, but not out of this world. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was super-salty. I won't be going back... :/

Some of the best sushi I have ever had (including several other places in LA and NYC). Yong was an attentive and courteous waitress and the chef took time to explain the origins of the fish when I asked. Their sushi lunch ($27) was the perfect amount of food with a variety of preparations and flavors. Would come here weekly for lunch if I lived nearby.
