Owner was here at opening, taking photos of the line & hyping the crowd. All the workers we interacted with were helpful, and the soundtrack inside was keeping the staff hyped. The food was great, with some dietary modifications available. Loved mine!

Despite the restaurant’s Michelin recognition, my experience was unfortunately very disappointing. Given the reputation, pricing, and level of hype, I expected quality and flavor. I ordered ranchera asada (which I do not understand how this could be considered beef flap) and chorizo de puerco tacos. First and foremost, these are not tacos al carbon; please do not use this term when they clearly are not. Both had a very similar bland flavor. They also use flavorless “blue” (supposedly, probably just food coloring) corn tortillas. Be cautious with their habanero salsa; it will burn your mouth and stomach. They claim to use fresh ingredients, but they do not. Any other taco stand in Los Angeles is better than this restaurant, even without having any Michelin stars. They are outright deceiving customers, which is a shame.

I genuinely don’t understand how this location can’t measure up to the DTLA Villa’s Taco spot, where I’ve eaten several times with zero complaints. But the Highland Park location? The quality has gone subpar ever since they showed up at the Super Bowl. My gentrified tacos no longer bring me joy. Every day at noon, the owner emerges to deliver an opening time pep talk like he’s a coach rallying his team before kickoff except the game is just… selling tacos. His entire social media presence is relentless positivity, which I guess is meant to distract from the fact that the tacos themselves have stopped tasting good. He’s not seasoning my tacos anymore. He’s machismo-ing them. The loud music they play is obnoxious and awkward not to mention almost virtually no places to sit.

Villa's Tacos were amazing! and I'm not saying this just because of the hype of the Super Bowl. I'm saying this because I mean it. The tacos were just amazing to me. Not your regular everywhere tacos. These tacos were homemade recipes. I had the carne asada, pork with potato (puerco con papa) & beans with cactus (frijoles con nopal). It's a week later that I tried these tacos and I can't stop talking about them. My favorite was the beans with cactus. Soooo good. Also, the atmosphere was just so nice and lively. I truly enjoyed every minute of my visit here. Thank you Villa's Tacos, we will return.
Excellent Mexican restaurant with bold, authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional favorites, all prepared fresh and served hot. Portions were generous, the ingredients tasted high quality, and everything was well seasoned. The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Whether dining in or grabbing takeout, this is a reliable spot that consistently delivers great food.

Overrated taco restaurant in California. I expected this place to be a home run but it was a let down.
1. Chorizo taco had a sour taste and reminded me of beef jerky.5/10
2. Carne asada taco had very fine bits of meat. Little no seasoning. 5/10
3. Queso taco was ok and the best on the menu. 7.5/10
4. Reds also was mild as hell. As a Mexican American, I’m ashamed to call this a salsa.
Overall, this place is overhyped.
