The approach Violet Bistro takes to service is lacking. They rush your meal so they can turn your table quickly and will not split your order so if you are looking for a relaxing evening with a well spaced meal this is not the place for you. Additionally they tack on a 20% after tax tip to your meal regardless of party size so there is really no incentive to provide good service. I would skip this one.

We found Violet's from another yelp review. We arrived just in time to secure a table on their lovely patio. The ambience is great. We had attentive service and the food was well prepared. It is a limited menu for lunch. We found their Nicoise Salad and burger very tasty and fresh. The dinner menu offers a few more options. We will definately be back..

Lovely atmosphere in a small, beautiful brick building with small rooms on multi levels and a courtyard in between. When you sit on the second floor and look over the courtyard and into the brick wall of the other side, it feels like you're in Europe. The service is warm, and the food is delicious. The bright point is what you would expect for West LA.I am looking forward to going back.

The was not the best I've ever had, but okay. The service was more than excellent as well as the ambiance. I'm very particular about what I eat. So most people would have enjoyed it. The service and the seating were perfect. Altogether, it was definitely a lovely evening. I would definitely go back again. Plus, it was very reasonably priced.

Charming ambiance with a cute courtyard. Went for brunch and had excellent service. Came again a few weeks later for dinner and had good service. The salads are incredible (and not to be skipped). I also appreciate the French onion soup with a mushroom base. It tasted even better than any beef based soup. I didn't love the fried artichoke but everything else was excellent. Quiche had a crispy phylo crust. The truffle fries had a great scoop shape. The steak and duck were a hit with the table. This is a hidden gem in Westwood. Street parking but you can easily park in the building right across the street (underground parking) for around ten or twelve dollars.

Spontaneously decided to give this place a try while in the area. Tried to call ahead for a reservation but no answer, and luckily they were able to service us at the bar. But would definitely recommend making a reservation as it gets super busy. Appropriately so because everything was delicious!! The salad mizou had us shocked, I had never devoured a salad that quickly lol. The steak and trout were just cooked and seasoned to perfection. Even the vanilla ice cream was delicious. Highly recommend if you love French cuisine. This is definitely my new favorite spot. Thanks to Jose the bartender who served us, his wonderful service made us enjoy the experience even more!

I'm so happy I found this gem! We chose to sit indoors because it was a rare cold, windy LA day but the outdoor courtyard seating is extremely charming. They have heaters outside too. Our server was friendly and gave us great suggestions. Every item that we ordered was delicious and nothing was left on the table. The steak with peppercorn sauce, duck leg confit and quiche verte were probably my favorites. The fries are a must order as well. I'm ready to go back for lunch and dinner again asap! I found another regular dining spot for 2024!
