Wax Paper Chinatown brings the same excellent sandwiches that you can get in Frogtown to a different part of LA. I usually go to the Frogtown location if I'm craving one of their sandwiches, but if I'm nearby or want a sandwich only offered on the Chinatown menu, then I order from here. There's some seating in the shared hallway area if you decide to dine in, and I've always found the service to be friendly and efficient. The Garth Trinidad is one of my favorite turkey sandwiches, combining a slightly spicy cabbage slaw with roasted turkey and aioli. Just writing about this sandwich makes me think I'm quite overdue for a Wax Paper order!

My first time here and it did not disappoint! (The staff was so kind and at the same time I came in, there was a fire alarm blaring and sprinklers going off in the back of the main building, and they were still patient and composed.)|P A R K I N G| So many metered spots nearby you should be able to grab something along the street there. It wasn't busy when I went around 2:30/3pm on a Thursday.I'll admit and don't suggest this, I was so hungry and completely forgot to feed my meter by accident and was completely fine. It was really quiet out that day... |L O C A T I ON| Is located right in Chinatown like it says and it's inside a shopping mall sort of tucked in the hallway there. Cute shop and you can't help but to look at all the cool stuff they have! Lots of cool sandwich names, sauces, soda options once inside. You can purchase different condiments and random stuff they have too. |F O O D|I was so hungry and all the sandwiches looked so good! I was mainly curious about the tuna sandwich (Kai Ryssdal $15). Once I asked the staff member about his opinion he said it was his favorite so that sold me. Once I was able to bite into it, I was so, so glad I chose that one! Also, that it was so highly recommended! It was different but tasted oh so good! Less mayonnaise which was perfect because I wanted more of a "lighter" style sandwich. The tuna was covered in marinated celery that wasn't overwhelming and rather refreshing. Overall a very citrus/lemony taste. So fresh and so yummy! The bread was a fresh and soft sesame roll. Which was the perfect balance of bread to filling ratio. |A T M O S P H E R E| Trendy for sure with their hipster sort of vibe and neon sign. They also have seating in the hall and a small table that's in the actual shop. Very small cozy little shop and highly suggest to come with friends and share the experience. Lots of color and lots of flavor! Have fun and enjoy!

The smallest place ever--this store is tucked inside the row of stores on Broadway; you actually have to duck inside a tiny alleyway to get there. The store is just a small deli counter, and there are a couple tables outside the door where you can sit and eat.The sandwiches are all named after NPR newscasters. So far I've had both the Sophie's Eisenberg (ham with honey walnut aioli, thin onions and vinaigrette dressing) and the Meghan Chakrabarti (roast beef, aioli, jus, pepperoni unos, sprouts). Both were very tasty, with a combination of meat and all kinds of vegetables and sprouts on different rolls. The only downside is NO substitutions for bread or toppings--you have to get the sandwiches as they are described--seems a little dictatorial to me, especially for a place that is selling things off of NPR names....but that's me. The sandwiches are very good.

These were by far the best sandwiches I've had in years. Walking in, staff was friendly and the vegetarian sandwiches were creative, delicious, filling, high on protein and balanced with moist and dried ingredients. High quality sourdough bread and seasonal plant-based ingredients. Biting into each bite was a flavorful, nourishing and joyful experience!

Chinatown has a lot of little gems. Wax Paper is tucked in one of the buildings across the street from the Far East Plaza. Because I was skeptical about the Evan Kleiman, I decided to order it. The verdict: Pickled beet eggs and maple butter are a power couple. I honestly don't think I would be able to dream up any of these flavor combinations; They are so unique. On top of that, the bread was perfectly crusty, which is very important to me (it makes the sandwich and we can all agree on that). The only thing that was kind of ?? was the use of shredded cheese, which made the eating process a little messy...but all and all, one of the most delicious and memorable sandwiches in recent memory that I keep on thinking about.

Good sandwiches. Love that they're all named after NPR people. Small restaurant, they also have seating outside the restaurant.

This sandwich spot is pretty cool. I've lived in Chinatown for about 2 years and finally tried it. I had heard a lot of great things and am a big sandwich lover. I had the Eisenberg and it was fully of flavor. The bread was a little too hard and made it difficult to eat. But if you like a little crunch then I'm sure it won't be an issue. We also got the Mac salad to share and I was super excited about it. Unfortunately it lacked flavor and we ended up only eating a few bites. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The ambiance is really cool, taking on a vintage diner vibe. There isn't a lot of seating inside the shop but they have a few tables out in the lobby area!

Wax Paper was not my original pick for lunch on this particular day, but the place I wanted to go to was closed. In any case, I did have Wax Paper on my list anyways so it kinda worked out I suppose.Shared the Neda Ulaby and Garth Trinidad. Yeah, these sandwiches ain't cheap, but they are LOADED. Ingredients are super fresh and the sandwiches are well put together. I was very satisfied.Service is great, no complaints here.Wax Paper is definitely worth a visit. I'm not even really that much of a sandwich guy, and I recognize quality when I see it.

Unassuming little shop puts out delicious sandwiches!

Pretty much a guarantee that I will stop at this sandwich shop in Chinatown. Sandos are thoughtfully constructed on bub and grandma breads. Big, well constructed selections that are honestly too hard to choose from so you might be there again before you know it for another crave. Be advised that they run through a good amount of items around 1-4:00pm and some sell out.
