Winchell's is so nostalgic for me. I had not been to one in many years until the other day when I randomly stopped by this location. Picked up a few donuts including my faves, the glazed twist and chocolate glaze. Still tastes good just like how I remembered.
I went into the Donut shop and I encountered this amazing worker named Evelyn, she was so nice and straightforward. I was having a stressful day and she managed to change that by being nice. I ordered a turkey Avocado and It was one of the best sandwiches that I’ve ever had which made my day better.
IMHO, as far as donuts go, when it comes to maple bars, I prefer 711's maple frosting, HOWEVER! Winchell's dough is superior, especially if you get a donut when they're fresh out the oven. Which brings me to my next and final point, Winchell's is open 24 hours a day so fresh baked is achievable daily.
