Yama has become one of my favorite sushi shops. I first tried the K-town location and later discovered this one. Yama consistently offers fresh sushi, and this location is no exception. It's slightly smaller than the K-town location and tends to be more crowded.

Authentic Japanese market. Top tier California roll, sashimi sliced per request with a solid variety of fresh catch from ahi tuna to otoro. Super reasonable prices for the quality. Chicken karage was nicely breaded and crunchy

Great value for quality sashimi and nigiri. I love their cooked food bento boxes, and spam masubi.

Since it's humble opening in WestLA, it has become a popular Japanese mini-mart. One wall was full of various sake offerings. They even offer a "Sake Flight" with 3 samplers! I love the fresh chicken karage/katsu that they leave on the checkout counter. It looks and smells great. Beware!

Despite the small store size, and how crowded it can become, most people were considerate, following Japanese culture and customs. But hey, we are in WLA and you'll always get a Karen or Chad in the store.

I think I'll order a Party Tray next time. Great value for quality food. Every time I bring fresh food from Yama, it's always gone right away.

Why buy the pre-made lunch boxes at Mitsua or Nijiwa when you can get better, fresher boxes at Yama. Same price but better quality and value.

Every single time I’m in LA visiting my friend, I make a point to go to Yama for a California Roll. I’m not exaggerating when I say that they are my favorite California rolls that I have ever had (and I eat sushi all the time). They’re HUGE and delicious!

Their only problem is keeping up with the increasing demand for their delicious rolls!
Yama has hit upon a winning formula for inexpensive yet excellent takeout sushi, and I hope they are committed to it because it’s wonderful.

Yama is my favorite hole in the wall foodie spot in West LA. Introduced this haunt to multiple friends and they've all become frequent customers. Fish is fresh and fish market quality. They cut up your order at the counter and offer a rotating display of seafood. Be sure to pick up a salmon or Hamachi collar to pop in the oven later. The only place I get california rolls from, they are enormous and the sushi is the best value and quality for price you will find in LA. My favorite budget meal is getting the pokebowl or california roll and cut up sashimi at the counter.

Picked up 2 platters for Super Bowl and it was very good! Really enjoyed the platter with the Hamachi. Best California roll and chicken katsu. I got an extra side order of chicken katsu and the sauce that came with that is addictive! Everything was fresh!!!

The fish is very fresh and they have a great variety of sashimi and prepared nigiri. Very nice staff and amazing quality products. So glad to have this shop on the Westside for high quality sushi that is also fairly affordable

The price was good and the fish was fresh, so I ate it very well. Next, I plan to try shopping for ingredients.
