A birthday celebration. I’ve been here many times since the 80’s. It was truly a beautiful restaurant around Hollywood. But after pandemic, for me this place seems to be a regular restaurant to go. Yes, the views are great. Service was fine and food was okay, not really great like used to be many years ago. We ordered Brussels sprouts and it was salty sand with garlic noodle. Sushi was okay.

My husband and I came here when we were just dating. We just celebrated our 30 Year Wedding Anniversary this year. We brought our son with us for dinner. We had the Smoked Octopus, Pork Boa, 2 Garlic Edamame’s, 2 Steak and Dianes, Steak Garlic Noodles, Banana Donuts, Vanilla Ice Cream. Everything was delicious. Our server was T,J., he gave us amazing service. He is very tentative and always gave us service with a smile. If we can give this place 100 Stars for the food, service and atmosphere, we would. We will definitely be back and we will request D.J.

If you’re visiting this restaurant for the first time, make sure to request a table with a beautiful view. It’s the best way to enjoy the food there. While the food isn’t particularly delightful, it’s quite tasty for the price.

My first experience @ Yamashiro Hollywood was not a good one. Me and my wife ordered an an appetizer and california roll with two wagyu australian steaks. We received our main dish before our appetizers, first mistake. Second mistake, our steaks were not cooked, they were still raw. I ordered my steak medium rare and my wife ordered hers medium. Both steaks came to us, not the way we ordered it. I ate my steak and sent my wife steak back. After 15 mins, her steak still came out raw in the middle and when I took the rest of my steak home. I saw that my steak was not only raw but dark red or brown raw. My stomach killed me for two days. Third mistake, the strawberry shortcake we ordered was so hard, it tasted like it has been left out for over a week. Needless to say, we were very disappointed. Especially, it being our first time. We will not be back. Thank you but, no thank you.

The views here of the entire city are spectacular! They even had an American wagyu steak on a Himalayan salt block that comes to your table - and you finish cooking it at the table. Totally memorable restaurant.

I had an unforgettable birthday celebration for my son at Yamashiro Hollywood! The stunning Hollywood Hills views, serene gardens, and historic Japanese vibe make it a magical spot. We loved the Cal-Asian fusion—standouts were the A5 Waygu roll, the fresh Yamashiro Roll with tuna, salmon, and a spicy kick, and the rich Baked Lobster Roll.
Our server TJ made it truly special: warm, attentive, and full of genuine energy. He surprised us with a customized dessert, candles, and a staff sing-along, tailoring recommendations to my son’s tastes. TJ, you’re amazing—thanks for the cherished memories!
A must-visit for incredible food, views, and service. 5 stars!

Came in with my best friend and we had BLAST! The vibes were great, the food was amazing, the cocktails were even better! It was my girl’s birthday and we had “magic Mike” aka Connor McGregor as our server! Haha request him cuz he was so fun and so kind and even brought out a sparkler for my girls b-day! Thanks Mike!!!! ❤️
