The salmon sushi did not have the texture and thickness I wanted, but
Still, it was okay overall.
The atmosphere of the store is nice and the servers are friendly.
I want to visit again next time and try various foods ?

I think I can come here everyday to eat their lunch special. Entire plate was SO GOOD! Visited twice just this month and will likely go back soon.

Parking: Restaurant will provide parking validation

The pork cutlet and fried food were a little disappointing because they lacked oil, but the sushi and rolls were delicious. The portions were large, so we ate a lot and the store accessibility and service were good.

I've gone to Gokan multiple times and every time I've gone, the waiters are very helpful, respectful etc. The atmosphere of the restaurant always gives me a calm feeling. And lastly the food is to die for, they have so many delicious options for everyone. I was once on a diet and came to Gokan and I was able to stay to my diet the entire time. Gokan is always my go to restaurant when I go to MaDang! ♡

This was 1st time to new “Gokan” version of my longtime favorite California RocknSushi … previous reviews spot-on : many of best items like Bentoboxes no longer availible.. new paper non-laminated menus already falling apart and stained/filthy. No linen knapkins, just same paper as street vendors, at least ginger/wasabe availible again. Same nice environment/music/good service as before … sushi& noodle dishes still great. Had a wonderful tempura icecream dessert for my birthday. Mr Gokan: please get pro-menus& cloth napkins like your competition?????

Parking: We had to go all the way to top of 5 storey park garage to find a spot… sun eve busy w/ dessert shoppers filling mall & parking

Kid-friendliness: Seems kid-friendly with informal vibe, young staff, fun music&lots of interesting food & things to look at in restaurant /decorations

Wheelchair accessibility: Didnt see any spot for wheelchairs indoors with all fixed seat/benches but maybe could squeeze in one outside on patio

Went for my second time today and this is the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. This is definitely going to be a regular for me.

I really never thought I would be doing this. But I feel this restaurant changed for the worse. I used to come here at LEAST once a month with my dad and my partner. It was our favorite spot by far! The new menu got rid of our favorite dishes and changed the others. Vegetable tempura roll, gone, garlic green beans, gone, potato croquettes, gone, 2 piece sushis, now seasoned by the chefs in ways I didn’t love, edamame, new seasoning that tasted like charcoal.
I think they sensed our disappointment and gave us some oysters on the house, which was very nice.

It’s worth reemphasizing that with this new menu their vegetation options have considerably dropped!

The atmosphere and service of this place are still great. But with this new menu in very sad to say that we won’t be coming back

I understand what they are going for with the changes they recently made but they basically got rid of every good item they had on the menu. The new menu is not vegetarian friendly at all which they used to be. Our vegetarian eater ordered the cucumber roll after learning they had removed the tempura veggie sushi rolls, and the server immediately asked her if she wanted to upgrade to a cucumber roll with tuna in it... The server also seemed annoyed or something like she was bothered by us not liking any of the new options or something. They replaced all of their appetizers with things much less appetizing, and removed some of their best dishes. We used to eat there once a month and actually decided we have to find a new place after trying the new menu.

Vegetarian options: They removed almost everything a vegetarian could have eaten

Dietary restrictions: They don't consider this at all

Mediocre food and a terrible establishment. I had a pretty bad experience dining here as it took a long time to order and the beverages we got: ice green tea and lemonade was disgusting. My partner and I ordered a couple of the rolls and it was mediocre at best and pricey. I would highly recommend somewhere else if you're looking for a place for high-end Japanese cuisine.
