The food was decent and not expensive. I like it that they have indoor plants hanging from the ceiling all over the place.

Bohemian, is how I'd best describe this popular spot in the mist of DTLA's bustling historic core. Right at the intersection of 5th and Main Streets. There's a 24 hr. public lot right next to the building on main; $20.00 for two hours. Their signs warn you "Do Not Pay The Attendant". So make sure you use the automated system in front of the gate. There was a questionable individual, with no teeth, trying to "assist" us, so probably why you are advised to only use the meter. Later while seated inside, we saw this same guy, through the restaurant's large picture windows, running and dodging traffic while crossing at a red light. Which brings me to the ambiance and decor of this spot. An abundance of plants and flowers throughout, but those large picture windows and frames are filthy. Everything else however appeared quite acceptable, with regular wipe downs of each table. So choose a table, with a mix of benches and chairs, after ordering up front. Or, take a menu, have a seat and make a choice before ordering at the counter. They'll call your number when your meal is ready. Your drinks will be brought by them to your table. Now on to the food and drinks. Very good for the most part. My apple mint lemonade and her mint lemonade were both extremely flavorful and refreshing. The fish & chips; with white fish and wonton chips were quite tasty and a different take on fish & "chips". Their tartar sauce was a plus as well. We also ordered the fried broccoli (tempura), that was just enough for the two of us. Delicious! The last order was the chicken plate; teriyaki chicken, 4 spicy salmon rolls, salad, rice, and a mini desert sample with brownie and cookies. My only dislike was the teriyaki chicken. A bit harsh in my opinion, though my wife was fine with them. An interesting venture into this bustling part of downtown's historic core. It had been awhile.

Lovingly made, wholesome, flavorful, and abundantly served food! Spicy salmon bowl-ito was awesome and HUGE (ate it over two meals, though my companion inhaled hers). The fried broc was enjoyable, but less of a lightly battered tempura vibe and a little more heavily breaded. Hot ginger lemon tea was filled with delicious honey, fresh ginger slices, and a lemon wedge. So comforting on a cold LA night! Vibe is casual a la SF in the 90's with groovy painted walls and all types of plants placed throughout the space to bring the outdoors in. Service was efficient, though not friendly as I've sadly come to expect from most LA establishments these days.

Maybe it's a personal things but the salmon tasted a lil extra raw and I'm usually not a fan of it has a bitter taste or a soggy consistency. For reference, I got the salmon bowl, but everything else was fine! I got fried rice cakes as a appy & that was tasty as well ((-: I ate it with the salmon to compensate for my dislikes! My friends loved their plates & drinks. The ambiance was so cute since there are many plants around The service was fine as well, no complaints (-:

Good food, refreshing, light, and felt healthy to consume. I just don’t understand the point of assigning a table number and still having the customer serve and buss their own food. Just have a takeout counter and call out numbers? Heard the waitresses be snarky with first-timers who didn’t know better. This is a more intuitive dining experience than hearing a snarky “you can pick it up yourself here” after every confused customer.

I'm a big Yuko Kitchen fan and as a local resident pick up bowls once or twice a month. The staff is friendly, the ambience is calm with plants and beautiful artwork. But a major bugaboo is 1/4 of the time, the bowls are missing the dressing. I'm not sure why this constantly happens and I don't want to cast aspersions on an otherwise great experience but ya'll need to get this fixed.
