First off the portions are hefty and the presentation makes the entrees really appealing. Then comes the best part, you actually get to eat it. We've had Laotian food before as there are excellent ones in the SFV, but hands down this has to be the best by far. So far we've tried grilled beef plate w/ a side of papaya salad paired w/ chicken and sausage ala carte (instead of the plate) and they were all in scrumptious. The saucesParking: It is located in a multi use apartment above/commercial businesses below. So the parking is actually where the tenants also park which leaves plenty of spaces for the restaurant and it's free. No ticket and validation required.

First time trying Lao food. The flavors were on point and packed a punch. The meat was seasoned well, but the sauces might have been a little too fishy for my taste (probably just subjective). The meat also was pretty hard to chew and the rice clumped in a hard ball. The mango sticky rice was yummy and the presentation was a work of art so I enjoyed the dessert a lot. The place is shared with another storefront and the ambience gave something similar to a fast food chain but better decorated. Food: 7/10 Service: 8/10 Ambience: 5/10

It’s sad to post this given that they will be closed indefinitely by the time you read this. But I felt that we should let everyone know how good this little spot was regardless of all that.Three of us came to lunch as they just opened to try a variety of dishes. And all I can say is I wish I got to try more. The seafood sukiyaki was the perfect cold rainy day weather meal one could ever ask for. Incredibly flavorful and rich with herbs and spices, loaded with large shrimp and seafood balls. The broth was perfect as is and supplemented with a side of alfalfa and lime. The sausage platter was a nice lunch choice given the amount with a tasty meat link but that papaya salad was the real winner! To finish it off a very subtle but absolutely perfect mango blue sticky rice dessert really closed out the meal well. Not as sweet as your typical mango sticky rice and just a bit more complex and varied in flavor too. I will miss this dish the most.Ambience, well it is in a shared kitchen space which wasn’t ideal but overall an enjoyable experience. The chef came out to greet us which was a nice touch and we hope there’s still a future for Yum Selut or some variation of it.It was my first time having Laotian food and I hope it won’t be the last.

Came on closing day to try Lao food for the first time , everything was so delicious and well executed! The fish in banana leaf and chicken plate were the stars and super flavorful. Hope to see them open a new location soon :,( more places like this is what we need in LA!! Bravo to the chef for sharing his amazing food with the world .

Checked in last night here and the front counter guy was amazingly nice! Everything we ordered was tasty too. He told us they were only going to be there for 2 more days and they'll be closing so I'm glad we made it there! It's a little hard to find as they are no signs but "lokals only" on the outside as they share the space with 3 other restaurants. Parked on the street but I saw there was a parking lot next to the building.

We were looking for a place nearby to take my mom to lunch. I saw this place and thought I'd give it a shot. The food was DELICIOUS and well with the wait. We ordered the larb salad, sausage entree, fish entree, chicken entree, and the mango sticky rice. My mother appreciated that the mango sticky rice wasn't too sweet. (She's diabetic so she can't eat anything too sweet.) While everything was delicious we enjoyed the larb salad and sausage entree the most. As some would say these days, "the food smacks!".

Amazingly delicious. Never really tried lao food, but the fish wrap was really good and very reasonably priced. I also tried the khao soi and definitely delicious and very different from Thai khao soi-- extremely light in curry flavor and with a tomato flavor, really well balanced and satisfying. I hope they have a pop-up somewhere else. There is a passion with the owner and it shows. It was set in a fast casual setting with benches and tables inside and out. There seemed to be 2 other restaurants in there sharing the same kitchen. Go there early because a lot of rice plates were sold out at dinner. As people mentioned before, it takes a while for the food to come out so come prepared to order and wait.

The food was delicious! Service was beyond incredible. The place is adorable. I want to add more and will add pictures once I find them. Looking forward to coming back soon.

The food is as authentic as you're going to get for Lao/thai food. Not very many places in LA serve kao piak sen and they do... except they were out the day I ordered :( Their Thai tea was almost $8 which shocked me but the cup was dang near 32 oz lol so I guess that's worth it compared to boba shops. I ordered on Grubhub and when I went to pick up my order they said their iPad wasn't working so they never received my order and had to take it verbally from me and by showing them my grub hub receipt. They were out of the noodle soup I wanted and said to contact grub hub for my refund since they couldn't do it on their end and I figured that was such a hassle so I asked if they could just substitute it for something of the same price - which she did. My food took 40 mins which was so disappointing as I was on a time crunch that day.

First time trying Lao food! The curry soup is my favorite and then the crispy rice wraps, lastly the papaya salad. The medium wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. The service here was very nice and I came a little before closing! The crispy pork skin that came with the papaya salad was really good. Im sure the papaya salad is good but it's not something I eat frequently. There's little fish balls in the soup and I loved how it came with the rice cake. Good spot!

It's so good here but they're closing the end of this month. So sad! :( Not a lot of places around my area for good Laotian food and honestly wished more people knew about Laotian food and how good it is. Basically, if you like Thai food, you'll like Laotian food even better. The restaurant is a bit hard to find. There's so sign and the dining room is shared with another restaurant (a soul food concept). But seriously enjoyed the food and thought it was so good. Had the crispy rice salad / lettuce wraps. An explosion of texture and flavor and all without tasting heavy. Also got to try the BBQ chicken, added sausage and chicken wings platter with papaya salad (I liked it although some people may find it a bit "funky"...a lot of umami flavor from shrimp paste!). Portions are plentiful for the price. Hoping I can make one more trip out before the month for one last taste!
