One of the best places to dine in DTLA
Service is a little slow(ish) but please understand this place is busy like alllll the time! There are 2 gals that work there that are just the best! One may be a lead or manager, if she isn't she SHOULD be, and the other is just so kind and frankly adorable! There are a couple of people with lackluster personalities but hey to each their own AND they are at work so there is that!
I don't appreciate it when I go to the salad bar/deli area and the person serving me touches the inside of the metal container or holds the plate past the edge, I have OCD and ADHD so I notice EVERYTHING! With that said the sever may touch the tablet used to ring folks up, that is then offered to a customer to complete payment, it is generally dirty/smudged, then that server will grab your plate to serve you and touch into the surface where food goes, this totally freaks me out, or they may do other things with gloves on and not change them before serving. Mindfulness, being mentally present, or considering and centering the customer can rectify this, managers ought to drill that home. While it freaks me out it is NOT enough to keep me from eating the delicious pastas and veggies they have on offer!
I wish they had more vegan breakfast options, maybe one tofu scramble, or just egg product, perhaps some soyrizo or tempeh - honestly I would give them ALLLL of my money every day if they did so maybe don't!

The store is super cute and they have random home goods and gifts for sale in the little marketplace space. Also, you can pick up a bottle of real champagne in the refrigerator area. However, do not try to buy a bottle of vueve and have it served at your table - you will be charged a corkage fee. I HATED that because they only have sparkling wine on their menu most of which gives me headaches - the vueve is a decent price but not once you tack on the corkage fee.
I am a pretty particular neuro-divergent person so a lot of stuff gets to me, I see all and am freaked out by most so this review is critical! With that said, I am STILL willing to visit this establishment weekly and that says A LOT! Could some adjustments be made? Sure but they have not been critical enough for me to 86 the place. Lastly, if you sit in the patio area during the day, you'll get to see a bunch of adorable birdies making the space their home.
Update 6/1/25: I hate it here! Took away all the things I ate as a vegan. Ughhh oh well, saves me money! Staff is different, the seating is different, the salad bar is gone... They don't even have the lemon ginger spritzer I used to drink.
Food was pretty good, food was pretty good, music was really loud.
My first experience at Zinc lovely primarily because the service was absolutely amazing. Nicholas was a total joy and to have a connection to Texas made it even better. He went over and beyond to make me feel welcomed and taken care of. His service alone is enough to make me go back for another experience.
I had the mushroom burger and carrot soup, with a rosemary latte. The latte had good flavor and wasn't too sweet. The soup had a nice texture but needed a little something extra. The burger was supposed to be medium but came out a bit overdone, although it had a nice flavor.
All in all, it was a beautiful day, the company and service was wonderful. I'll definitely visit again on my next trip to DTLA.
The outdoor seating area and inside is lovely. The service was good, but the food was mediocre at best.
fully empty restaurant and takes 15 minutes to NOT fill up a 16$ order of berries in a bowl. like i can go back and do it just tell me where the fridge is. waiters walking around bored as hell. people behind the counter filling up empty decanters of water. staff loading and unloading dishwashers. craziness. just left without my food. 20 something year olds moving like its a retirement home for the disabled geriatric. originally threw a fuss about seating… even though everything was empty. so we went with a togo snack. didnt fulfill that either.
Hmmm the fries were fishy, the guac was alright, salad was good, mocktail was good and pizza was good. They were out of two things we wanted. The atmosphere is nice but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. I wish they had more vegan options
Spacious and bright restaurant featuring both tables and booths, plus a relaxing open-air courtyard adorned with olive trees and equipped with outdoor heating. The atmosphere is inviting, though the music might be a bit loud for a breakfast setting
This used to be a really busy restaurant. Most recently it’s not as busy even on the weekends. They changed their menu to include non-vegetarian options which is nice. Their service is a little slow. I always order the green bowl and you can reserve the private room in the back if you have a large party.
The parking was hard, just want to throw that out there. I came after a short day at work so a bit before 2pm and I had to look for a while (in case you’re not in walking distance).
The cafe itself is super cute and the outdoor area is very pretty but I sat inside.
I ordered the split pea and potato soup, which came with garlic bread, as well as the turkey sandwich without bacon. That came with a choice of a side of fries, small soup, or salad. I wanted a larger soup so I got the salad on the side.
This may sound weird but the sandwich tasted like its components, like the turkey just tasted like turkey and the tomato like tomato, the lettuce like leaf. It was super fresh and the quality was good but a flavorful spread would have made it way better.
I like split pea soup so the potato was a nice addition but I think there was squash in it too which was very nice.
The breads were also very good but so crunchy so careful with the bites.
The drink I had was a tea au lait which is like a tea latte and it was really good, I didn’t even need to add a sweetener.
The waiters and waitresses were sooooo nice. They were attentive and very efficient.
I would definitely come again to try the breakfast items, they sounded good.

Hard boiled eggs as eggs Benedict’s are No No in any universe. Been served hard as rock eggs and it wasn’t pleasant dish to have.
The food was absolutely delicious, and our waiter Alexander was outstanding.
Lovely outdoor seating. Delicious vegetarian sandwich with Fig jam. Nice happy hour wine deals as well. Service was great.
It has great atmosphere. I really liked the beach beer.
Food was good
The parking lot said they have a contract with the restaurant saying that it is a flat fee of $10 idk how true that is hunting feel scammed.
Update: So they said the parking lot is not associated with the restaurant but the man standing the parking lot has been saying it to everyone who parks there. and he stands in front of the parking machine to make sure the 10 dollar flat rate is pressed rather then doing the 2 dollars an hour. Im not blaming Zinc at all. food is great just watch out for the parking lot advertising it its behind blue bottle coffee.
