Loved our meal here! It was a cold, rainy day, so a warm coq au vin with a glass of red wine hit the spot. The steak was also perfectly cooked, quite rare. The bread was delicious, too, with softened butter. I'm not sure the green beans did much for me, but everything else was great!
The live piano music also really contributed to the vibe. Great time here!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Chez Phillippe four times, and every meal has been absolutely delicious! My escargot-loving friends can’t stop raving about the perfectly prepared escargot, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every dish I’ve tried, from the savory crepes to the flavorful Croque Monsieur. The extensive wine list offers excellent pairings, and the desserts—crafted in-house—are the perfect sweet ending to a meal. Chez Phillippe is a charming French bistro where Phillippe and Deena have created a truly delightful spot in Los Gatos. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic French cuisine and a warm, inviting atmosphere

Service and atmosphere are nice. But the food is not good. I had the mussels and they were not fresh and overcooked. My wife had the salmon and it was below average. We had a goat cheese salad that was nice, and also a sufflet that was ok. The one thing that was great was their baguette!
I would highly recommend that the chefs visit the Amelie in Fairfax to experience excellent French food. I grew up 5 minutes from the French border and sadly have to conclude that chef Philippe has never been to France.
EDIT: I see that other reviews praise the food, so my suspicion is the chef may have been out on vacation with a temporary substitute replacing them.

The ambiance was nice, the food is just ok, maybe below the average of the similar price French restaurant. The service is bad, the waitress is not familiar with the menu, and is dead after ordering.

Beautiful i door and outdoor (especially the backyard), great service with servers always being present and accommodating food changes
Cons: not very pleasant to pass through fridges and dishes to get to the backyard! They should really guide guest through the indoor seating area to the backyard.
Neither size of the food and taste doesn’t justify the price. Duck was very small and nothing different from a chicken thigh. French onion soup was not bad but there are better options out there.
Menu options are too little.
Vegetarian options: Only salad and soup, while not much choices for each
Parking: Depending on the time of the day it can get hard to find parking spots : there are lots behind the restaurant and street parking.
