The food was delicious. However, I will not be coming back to this restaurant.
Here is a short summary before the long review: the food is good, but the service is bad. The atmosphere feels chaotic like a fast-food place, and the food is not good enough to make up for it.

The female server made the entire dining experience feel stressful and disorganized. Even though we ordered sushi, she gave us soy sauce dishes only after a long time. When our order was not properly taken and we ended up waiting for a long time, she did not apologize or acknowledge the situation at all.
Service and basic courtesy were either missing or extremely slow, but the bill was brought to us faster than at any other restaurant.
The food itself was good, and the male chef quietly focused on cooking, but the server completely ruined the value of the experience.

As a semi regular, I previously gave Shiroi 5 stars (which I now deleted). Unfortunately, our most recent experience was so bad, I came to the reviews to see what's changed. We walked in and there were no familiar faces, the entire staff was new. The sushi chefs were impersonal, no recommendations or acknowledgement. They had only one server working and she was clearly overwhelmed with all the tables. (Eventually a couple came from the back to 'help' at the end of our meal. We assumed new owners/managers). Food service was always on the shower side here, but now it was ridiculously slow. The food quality and portion sizes aren't as good. Our Katsu order was cold, tempura app was much smaller and also cold & oily. The sushi/sashimi had much thinner slices of fish and the proportion of fish to rice wasn't like anything we've experienced here before. The interior decor is the same, which we've always liked, but nothing else is. New menu prices, new staff, new pos (use to have hand-written order taking, now they are using a hand held tablet), which was painfully slower because she had to scroll and scroll to find each item we ordered, she wasn't well versed on the system based on the hunt and peck. Plus, it certainly didn't make her more efficient because our food still came out in odd order and often cold. So, I agree with the more recent reviews, we missed the old crew. I'm bummed to say, after this most recent dining experience, we all walked out saying we'd likely never return. In all regards, it's not worth the price.

It all starts with the fish and the fish here is fantastic. The place is small (super cozy, friendly, clean) and has a very friendly/family feel to it. I like to sit at the bar and enjoy the fish the sushi chef recommends. There aren’t a lot of sushi places in the LG area I’ve found that I love. This one…aces.

David and staff are great. Food was great as well. It’s too bad that the new ownership doesn’t understand why people become regulars at restaurants. It’s the food/atmosphere. We’ve been going to Shiroi since way before Covid. We went tonight and it was terrible. New ownership is absolutely garbage. I almost left before we started because there wasn’t the football game on TV. Apparently the new ownership is cutting costs. Apparently they are okay with cutting customers as well the place was almost empty on a Thursday night at 7:30. As a family that will no longer be spending between $700-$1500 a month in this restaurant I feel bad for David, Sara and the rest of the staff. Looks like we need to find a new spot that’s not run by incompetent owners.

The rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced. Went in at about 8:10pm, asked “ Do you have a table for 2?” Mind you , I see a 2 top and 4 top open. The response the rude waitress gave was just a flat “NO” waving me off with her hand. I turned around and left. I liked their food, but I will never return. At least not while she still works there.

Food was delicious. Services started off a little slow as they were just opening but improved once they got into motion.

If I can score a negative star on this place I would. The service in this place is extremely sad and disheartening. I feel sorry for the people who work here. The food is good but decided to give it a poor score because of the service. I come by to get a couple items and the lady who attended me had a face like she has a stick up her you know what. So sad for her.

My kid was in tear right in front of me because after an hour wait, finally getting a sit, the rude waiter refused to take our order. We are the only two Asian customers in the restaurant. We ordered Unagi Sushi and a large beer. The rude waiter said we have to order more and asked us to leave the store. After my boy burst into tears and then every Caucasian customer starts paying attention to the side table we sit, I got to talk to the boss who was behind the bar the whole time and explained what happened. Finally our order was taken. I would never come back to this store again. The first time I felt so left out after being in the States for 15 years was in this Japanese restaurant. I felt sorry for my boy. I was so embarrassed when he asked me why she ignored us but helped another family that came after us. I don’t know how to explain. If you have children, make wise decisions before you step in this place.

Crazy lady ran out to our car after us after she forgot to add a $3 Miso soup to our bill.
She accused us of not paying the whole bill. Very rude service, wouldn't even acknowledge us when we said thank you for the meal. Would NEVER EVER come back to this place. I should have taken back my tip.
