The dinner was amazing the chef really knows what he is doing- the sauces omg divine. The staff was charming and friendly the ambiance of the place cozy and elegant, pleasant but not overwhelming music and of course wonderful wine. We will definitely be coming back and only regret not having come sooner!

Tasting house is my favorite restaurant! Going to try to come for my birthday on Saturday! Off to make reservations!

Food was good, big, bold flavors but lacked subtlety in seasoning. Had the Crab Roll and Smoked Sturgeon appetizers, both good, the Crab Roll was generous enough to be an entree for one person. Shared the Steak and Ale Pie for and entree with Brussels Sprouts as a side dish. Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. Engaged with two sommeliers, one very good, one disappointing, lacking even basic knowledge of a wine paired on the menu with the entree we ordered. Was a Right Bank Bordeaux blend, Merlot dominant. I asked what was blended with the Merlot, and got a list of all the other classic Bordeaux varietals. I reiterated my question about the specific wine served, the sommelier had to retire from the table saying they would have to check to find out the blend composition of the specific wine, returning about 10 minutes later with the answer. There was also no embellishment as to why this specific wine was paired with the entree. Generally lacking what I would consider basic information from a sommelier. The other sommelier we engaged with helped select a champagne to start with and to have with our appetizers. The experience was completely different. The sommelier was quite knowledgeable about the champagnes we were considering, including specific attributes of the wines that would work well with flavor profiles of the two appetizers we ordered. The table service was very good, the ambiance delightful. The live soft jazz trio playing in the bar was a nice complement to the experience, but a loud. In all, the food was good but not excellent or exceptional. The table service was excellent, a cut above the food. Overall value was okay. We will try The Tasting House again, do not like to pass final judgement based on a single visit.

Tasting House is a Los Gatos gem with an excellent wine and champagne by-the-glass list, so perfect for a special night out or celebration. We sat in the bistro seating by the bar on a Friday — there is live music, so it can get quite loud as an FYI. The menu is from local growers but is very Northern European influenced, so be ready for some delicious, hardy dishes. The head chef was out sick for the night so we were unable to order the tasting menu, but the January 2026 bistro menu was quite fulfilling. To start, we had the crab roll (think lobster roll, but with Dungeness crab) and smørrebrød (a Danish open-faced sandwich with rye bread) with smoked sturgeon, including some exceptional wine pairing suggestions from the knowledgeable staff. For our mains we had the fish and chips and the wild boar rigatoni. The fish was moist yet flaky and crispy which paired great with the mushy peas. The ‘chips’ were large wedges of purple potato— good but quite dense. The wild boar was filling— some of the meat was dry while other pieces quite moist. The homemade rigatoni was flat (it’s fresh so don’t expect your perky round pasta) and a touch undercooked, but overall the dish had great flavor. To wrap up the meal, we had the sticky toffee pudding. It came out as a slice (dense bordering dry) covered in toffee and vanilla ice cream. The cake paired with the ice cream was necessary but balanced flavor nonetheless. We would give the restaurant a 4.5 (although you can’t give halves here) because the quality of the food is great, the staff knowledge of the wine is exceptional, but the attentiveness and attention to detail could use some work (spacing between courses, waiting a considerable amount of time for plates to be cleared, having to take several minutes to hunt down leftovers…that shouldn’t be the case. One time they didn’t even bring us our leftovers which was half of a whole meal..not cool). All in all, great meal and wine. We look forward to coming back and trying the tasting menu along with the impressive wine selection available.

We absolutely love this restaurant! This was our second time having the pleasure of dining here. We had the pate, which was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life! The balance of flavors and texture was absolutely delightful. I'm obsessed with this dish! We also had the Hamachi Crudo, which was also delicious and the crab roll, which was a version of a lobster roll. That was also excellent. My mother and I shared the steak which was perfectly cooked. My father had the boar ragu, which was hearty, but not heavy. The wine of course is so far above par. It is always a delight to try new wines by the glass. We started the pot champagne. My father particularly loved the champagne from England that they were performing by the glass. I had the cab that was recommended to be paired with a steak and it was exceptional. Shut up We were seated in the champagne bar for dessert, which was not really an imposition because I had never sat in the champagne bar before. I didn't even really know it was there, but it is so cute, and if you like champagne, you would love this adorable little champagne bar! 🍾 ever happen to ever We look forward to being in Los Gatos in the future and coming back to Tasting House again and again!

Our New Year's Eve experience at Tasting House was celebratory and fun. Service was good, as were wines. The food, however, was not the 'strong point' of the evening. We had the sense that food was prepared ahead and then heated in a microwave. We'd go back, but not for the food.

The worst service ever! Waitress was barely present and had negative attitude. We ordered a crudite that came with 2 carrot haves, one pickled something and two other small some type of vegetable. I've seen better veg/dip platters at fast food restaurants And to charge like that... seriously?!

Tasting menu (pescatarian) — 15 courses. Nice presentation overall and excellent service. Live music was nice and the “outdoor course” was also cool.

I visited Tasting House last night for my birthday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, Bryan made us feel incredibly welcome. He was attentive, friendly, and really made the evening feel special. It was my birthday, and he went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect.

We opted for the tasting menu, and WOW, each course was an absolute masterpiece. The presentation of each dish was nothing short of stunning, showcasing the attention to detail and artistry of the kitchen. The flavors were exceptional, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. It’s clear that this French restaurant doesn’t just focus on taste, but on creating a complete sensory experience.

Bryan’s expertise and thoughtful wine pairings added another layer of enjoyment to the meal. He really took the time to understand our preferences and recommended wines that complemented each dish perfectly. The overall experience was seamless from the impeccable service to the gorgeous dishes and top notch wine.

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate my birthday. A huge thank you to Bryan and the team at The Tasting House for making it so special. I’ll definitely be back for another unforgettable experience!

I had a fantastic experience doing the tasting menu and the wine pairing. Lots of small perfectly executed dishes, served at a good cadence. Lots of the ingredients were foraged, including some of the seafood. The wines in the pairing were great, especially considering the price point of the pairing was very reasonable - for so many pours of wine. I understand that the menu is constantly changing - so I'm sure I'll be going back soon.

Everything overall was good, service was great! Steak tasted like charcoal. Pumpkin soup did not taste like pumpkin at all, over powered with sauce. I ordered Pumpkin Gnocchi, which did not have any pumpkin flavors, and was over sauced, very underwhelming. The food fell short, my husband and I were very disappointed.
