Good wine great people
May not have the cozy sitting area but the wine was delicious and Meekah (sp) is an absolute pleasure, full of wine knowledge. My favorite stop in Los Olivos!
The most delicious wine! Song For Susan! And Meekah (sp?) is excellent! Friendly, funny, social, and full of knowledge!
When in Los Olivos, all tasting rooms are not created equal. We rolled into town excited for a full day of tasting but arrived a hint earlier than 11am when the majority of tasting rooms were open, and Alexander & Wayne were the first open room we saw and decided to start the day!I'll start with the good... the woman pouring was very nice! She was quite friendly. But the wine... was, let's just say... not good. Like... bad. When going tasting, we're always on the hunt for GREAT wine. But often times while tasting, searching for those great wines, you get ones we call, "just a wine" which are good quality wines, but they're just a wine. But these weren't that... these were bad. And to make sure it wasn't "just us"... we didn't feel that way about any other tasting rooms that day. Every other tasting room we tried got five stars. If this were the only tasting room in a small town, I might have given it a slightly better review... 2, maybe even 2.5 stars (if it were allowed), but YELP is supposed to help you plan your day, and compared to the literally 50-100 other tasting rooms a mere STEPS away from this place, you shouldn't waste your time or give this place the light of day in comparison. And according to YELP, 2 stars is "could be better", which would be an up-sell.That is strictly based on the WINES. Two other things I didn't love was that when we asked for water, they only sold water, didn't offer tap like literally every other tasting room. If you're in Los Olivos for a day of tasting, hydration is the name of the game for safety reasons alone... so that wasn't very cool. Also... if you're pouring wine, it's really irresponsible to wear heavy perfume. I'm sorry, but that's in direct contrast to the what we're doing here. It's kind of like having house music on during a concert. It's getting in the way. I don't mean to sound mean... the fragrance was lovely... but it's literally in direct conflict to what we're there to do. You couldn't break through to the nose of the wine.Los Olivos is a must visit for any wine fan. Alexander & Wayne isn't.
Great place two ladies know their wine
Another great tasting room and wonderful wines! There are TWO rooms to this place. Choose 5 on the list for tasting and there is a back room with MORE wines. We have Jamie and Nancy-respectively- for our experiences! Both were great to learn from and truly know the best ways to explain their wines to guests. We had a great time and walked out with only 12 bottles... ha!Will certainly return if I am ever back in the area again.
Visited a few years ago ... didn't have a lot of money so I wasn't able to purchase a lot of bottles on the trip and was waiting to find a bottle that really blew my socks off, found it in the Alexander & Wayne Pinot in this tasting room at about $40 ... bought a bottle (would've liked to have bought more) and when I drank it a few months later it was superb. For me it was a bottle of wine that really made me understand was a truly great wine is all about.
Superb experience! They were very polite, explaining some details about wine tasting I definitely didn't know. Nice conversation and service!
Wines were good, but the service, knowledge and general help of the girl who was there was really the best of the tasting experience
Excellent wine and friendly service. Their sister company Arthur Earl is top notch as well.
