The ambiance is fantastic, food was excellent from start to finish, and the service was spectacular. Our waiter and the entire team made the experience wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant and most definitely on a special occasion.

Mattei's Tavern never disappoints - food is finely prepared, even simpler salads, appetizers or main entree. Welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. We have been regular diners a few months since they've opened and we have gone back there with family / friends to enjoy lunches, dinners or Sunday brunch. The chef is outstanding and creative in her dishes and presentation. Attention to details on good, selected ingredients that make her dishes stand out. The servers are very good and know how to highlight options according to what you may enjoy. We have recommended to our family, friends and neighbors. We dine there at least twide a quarter, being one of our favorite places to go in the Central Coast.

What an amazing place, the service was top notch, the rooms were warm and luxurious, and overall felt like I was in a small down in Europe.

Outstanding - great place for brunch. Sit outside on the patio and just enjoy life. Split the burger, fries outstanding. Mussels had thicker broth. The vegetable dip was so fresh and the white bean dip was so good.

The food, the staff and the venue are all top notch in our opinion. I had the Hangtown fry for breakfast and it is as good and interesting as any breakfast I've had. My wife had the French Toast, excellent. For lunch we had the cheese board, duck liver spread and steak sandwich with garlic aioli. All were excellent, no complaints.

My family and I stopped by for dinner on our way back home to San Luis Obispo. This place had been on our list for a while and it ABSOLUTELY met and exceeded our expectations. We were there on a Monday so it was more relaxed but the service, food, ambience, drinks, etc were incredible and Jeremy (Jeremiah?) was so fun to talk to as well as Zach the sommelier. You can tell everyone at Mattei's cares about their customers which is always fun to experience (it even confirmed how fun we think it would be to have our family's wines on their menu!)

Our server, ( don't want to butcher his name Key-no*? he was Hawaiian, ) was wonderful. The food was outstanding and the dining room and open kitchen, bar, and overall ambiance was perfect. It was my wife's birthday and they treated her like a queen. Great spot, and did I mention the food was spectacular!

You are treated to a fully luxurious experience from the moment you enter until you leave. Perfect service and ultra gourmet food. The Chocolate Soufflé is excellent as is the Cauliflower appetizer. Even the rotisserie chicken is elevated. They have a dessert that is a take on Mango Sticky Rice but even better. You must reserve months in advance

I love this place. The ambiance the food the service. It's always great ... stopped by to have lunch with my husband yesterday but the dining room was already closed we we took a seat at the bar and ordered a persimmon spritz and wedge salad and steak and fries. We shared everything and it was perfect. Delicious and fresh food. Great service from the moment we walked in A beautiful resort with this beautiful restaurant. You transfer to another world when you are here. So relaxing.

Definitely a throwback to the Stagecoach days, Mattei's Tavern was established in 1886. There is a newer, brighter main dining room attached to the tavern/bar lounge. We decided to stop here on our drive back to Orange County from our long weekend of Paso Robles wine tasting (recommendation from one of the Paso wine bar hosts). We ordered a wedge salad and a chicken Sammie to share. * Wedge Salad - 5/5 the right proportion of each ingredient including the dressing; the red cabbage was a nice addition; large chunks of bacon lardons * Chicken Sammie- 3.5/5 fried chicken was overly fried but the fresh daikon radish, thin slices of carrots and cucumber made the sandwich delicious (basically a fried chicken banh mi); the accompanying fries were just meh Service was a little slow, but they were friendly. FYI- the restroom was definitely modernized, but still tried to retain the 1800's feel The lunch menu was short, but we were told the dinner menu is much more extensive 3.5/5

Amazing dining experience. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Food was amazing, Tomahawk Steak was best steak I've ever had. All dishes were interesting and delicious. Lastly, the resort is gorgeous and a perfect hideaway. Will be going back soon!
