It's one thing to be a closed, snooty exclusive club, but why not put that on your Google or Yelp listing so you don't come up as a great place for Happy hour! It took us half an hour to find, and once in, despite me having a broken toe and despite the fact that there was virtually nobody there, they refused to let us have a drink and watch the sunset, even though I showed them that the listing said nothing about a closed club. Very disapappointing and rude.

When staying at the Calamigos Ranch Resort, consider stopping by the beach club. It's about a 30-minute drive off PCH from the hotel. The chicken bao buns were amazing and the sushi, to my surprise, was really really good Shout out to Jayden ?

This review is also way overdue. Feel free to take a look at my reivew for my wedding on the knot. BUT This post, is dedicated to my Calamigos team members that I've encountered during our stay here for our wedding on 3/25/23. First things first, I have to talk about Kurt. KURT!!!! My first forever favorite person that I've met at Calamigos. Everytime I saw Kurt, he was running, always doing something for someone. Always got the biggest smile on his face with sweat dripping down. Never a single complaint, loves what he does and he does it well! Next person I me through Calamigos was Conner. Wesley and I were scouting out potential rooms to stay in for our wedding, also the potential rooms we would need for our parents. We were wondering looking lost, and here comes Conner, asking if we needed help with anything. We told him why we were here and we knew he was busy because he was walking very fast. But he literally dropped whatever he was doing and started walking with us and explaining the different room types they offered here. We were torn between the two bedroom suites and the estate suites. The photos just didn't do its justice so Conner went out of his way and opened up an estate room to show us how it actually looked. We fell in love with it instantly and booked the room for my parents. We also used this room for our Chinese tea ceremony for our wedding. Conner! Also, top notch!! Now let's talk about my valet peeps! Alec, and Jaden, my men!!! hahaha, they are seriously the best! So respectful, always greeting us before we even arrives to the front. But I want to commend them during our wedding. We were all the way on the other side at the pavilion side and we had to keep going towards the estate room side for photoshoots and other stuff throughout the whole day. Our wedding was on Saturday and there were a total of four weddings going on at the same time so you can ONLY assume how busy valet was. BUT! Not once did I see or hear any of them complaint, Alec and Jaden probably picked us up over 10 times in that day and was driving us ALWAYS with a smile even though they are drenched in sweat! Running to get to my door and holding my hand to walk down the car, grabbing my dress so it wouldn't get dirty. Call me old, but I love these two sweet boys. Next up will be my food and beverage people, special shout out to Alex and Valeria! We met Valeria by the pool and our little daughter Ava (who was 9 months old at the time) LOVESSSSS VALERIA! She was super attentive and knew we were the newly weds. She made sure we always had a drink in hand and even helped watch Ava so we could have some alone time. She definitely made a huge impact on us that day and we could not stop talking about her! From how young she was to the way she attended her guests, I wouldn't be surprised if she gets promoted to a manager position soon in the near future because that girl is born a leader! That night, we went over to the bar on the other side of the hotel by the pickle ball court. We were greeted by Alex our bartender who was equally as awesome! Knew we were newly weds as well and just took care of us like no other! He made the best drinks! I would tell him I like sour, and a little bit of sweet and he would be like "Ok, try this" and it was amazing everytime! We love love LOVED being here at calamigos ranch and loved all the attention to detail for each and every single one of their employees. I apologize up front for not getting everyone's name, but hands down, every single one of the employees here down to maintenance, house keeping, has made our stay so special, and thus made a HUGE remark on us to why we chose this place to become members here. I love the fact that they are so family oriented, and you feel it the moment you set your foot here. They are here to be of support with anything. They truly care about each and everyone of their guests experiences. This is one of the main reasons why our family decided to set roots here and grow with Calamigos together. This place is AMAZING. We found ourselves here after an airB&B let us down - and couldn’t have been more grateful. The staff were all exceptional - the facilities amazing - and suites / rooms out of this world. Everything felt so well presented and nothing was too much trouble. Unlike other resorts all the facilities were included and there were no additional charges for the gym / courts / spa pool etc. It also felt very family and children friendly - and whilst they distinguished between the family pool and spa pool. Children were allowed at both and neither felt overrun - just nice and relaxed. If anything it was a little quiet - but after a long haul flight it was the perfect sanctuary!!

Our stay was amazing. Top notch service from the concierge services to the service at the restaurant. Jake was our server and went above and beyond expectations, from his recommendations to his outstanding service. Hogan did a great job as our concierge with setting up reservations, getting our transportation setup to and from the restaurant for our elderly parents and giving welcome gifts to the children. He also helped with our closeout bill to make sure we weren't double charged. We will definitely return. Bungalows 2 and 3 on butterfly lane were magnificent and will request to book them again in the future.

We celebrated our Anniversary here, which is a California hidden gem. We had a wonderful time. The staff was professional and friendly. They made sure that our guests experience was nothing short of AMAZING! It is a spectacular property with a serene atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Our spa experience was very relaxing. There is great food and drinks on sight, with beautiful water features everywhere.

The most beautiful property! We spent the whole first half of the day at the beach club and the second half on the property at the pool. We could have spent days at this property exploring the ranch. Our room was dreamy with a private porch and a tub. It was also SO dog-friendly! Our dog received warmed dog food, a toy, and dog bed to make his stay extra comfy. We loved it and will definitely be visiting again.

Super cool property, staff, and programming. The staff are top-notch in terms of their enthusiasm and friendliness. Unfortunately, the property is more "insta" than quality. While the public spaces (reception, bar/lounge, cafe) are beautifully designed, the rooms themselves feel quite cheap and rickety. We booked a 2-bedroom bungalow and upon arrival were assigned an incredibly outdated and tiny room that was not at all like what was pictured on their website. Luckily after contacting the manager they moved us into the correct room, which somehow was both available and ready for us. They assured us that the room we had initially be assigned "will be renovated and then will be the same category as we had booked, " but why put us in their if it actually hadn't been renovated yet? Our new room faced some construction and we did experience some construction-related noise, though the manager had assured us we would not, so that is something to be aware of as well. Other than that, I found the programming to be well done. There was a fun coffee-tasting event, nightly social hour, sound meditation, games and a "fair" for Father's Day, etc. Definitely take advantage of those as that is what I ended up feeling like made the stay worth it! If they invested a bit more in the quality of the room, I would definitely rate this a 5* stay.

Beautiful place

THE best Stay-cation location I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing right in my backyard. As a SF valley native, I had no clue this gem existed. I brought my gf here for her birthday trip and planned a surprise Proposal. The concierge Kurt is the best. His attention to detail, willingness to help and positive energy made the planning process super easy. There were a few hiccups throughout the way but Kurt went above and beyond to accommodate us. I met with him three times prior to actually staying here to ensure everything went smoothly. He always took the time out of his busy schedule to help. From touring the property twice, to setting up the proposal location along with setting up cameras to capture the moment. I Can not thank him enough. The hospitality was amazing. Checking in was super easy, Hogan, Amina and Kristen ensured all our needs were taken care of. Valet dropped our luggage off and picked it up. Shout out to Max for always arriving on time and being super courteous. The staff at the Ranch was amazing too. They always checked in and we’re attentive. I just wish I could have remembered all their names in order thank them personally. Room service was quick too bring our meals and any extra blankets we needed. Thank you Calamigos for making this Birthday/proposal weekend the best we could have ever asked for. My Fiancé and I will be back, maybe for the wedding ;)

We had the most amazing stay at Calamigos. As soon as you arrive on property you feel at peace. It's such a beautiful space and you feel so far away from the craziness of LA. The staff truly make it extra special. They are so accommodating and attentive. Shout out to Hogan who was the absolute best and went above and beyond for us. We came as a couple this trip but will definitely be back with our toddler as well.
