Nice place on the road to Santa Monica. We stopped by chance for a quick lunch. The place is very welcoming with pleasant music for a relaxing stop on the Californian coast.

The food was very tasty and fresh. We had the warm baguette with the goat cheese salad. For our mains we split the Chicken with the Mustard sauce and the Gnocchi followed by the Crème Brûlée. Our wine was delicious (Arnaud). Chef Nicholas and his son Lucas were very welcoming. Highly recommend.

My Belgian husband and I discovered Nicholas Eatery by accident during my vacation stay in Malibu over the Thanksgiving break as we were searching for a nice breakfast spot. After reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try. We typically share meals but when we first tried Nicholas’ French toast..Wow!! We were blown away. The perfect balance of flavor and quality of ingredients along with the presentation was on target. We then ordered another breakfast entree. Again, the eggs were soft scrambled, seasoned with herbs to perfection. The coffee was freshly made and the OJ was squeezed fresh like in France.Of course, we came back for lunch on the same day and enjoyed the French Onion Soup - the best I have ever had and I have had plenty in Europe and other fine restaurants. Not salty or dark or overly cheesy…again, the balance of flavors and ingredients reflected a lot of passion in Nicholas’ cooking. Next, we had the lobster roll which was very nicely presently with freshly seasoned lobster and quality sauce atop a nicely toasted brioche. I couldn’t stop taking pictures and sending them to my friends and family. My husband enjoyed the deviled eggs which at every bite was heaven and the herb roasted chicken which also was juicy and tasty.Next day, had to try the avocado toast after seeing Nicholas’ preparation on Instagram. Needless to say, I have brought my daughter back the following month for French Toast and was just back for Christmas this week while on route to join our friends in Santa Barbara for some wine tours. An important stop there on the way was Nicholas Eatery and we reserved dinner on the way back as well. Another delicious experience for dinner with their seafood pasta - “Michelin star quality”. The mussels ceviche, escargot, and seafood pasta was top notch as you can see from the attached pictures - so fresh. We have eaten at Maestro’s Ocean club in Malibu and Bouchon in Santa Barbara ONCE, don’t bother going there to waste your money or time. You will be sorely disappointed after experiencing Nicholas Eatery.Thank you Nicholas for the wonderful food, exceptional staff service, cleanliness, and passion in cooking. We will be back and I hope this review serves others well as they will not be disappointed.Much love, The Pennewaerts.

Honestly one of the best dishes I’ve had in ages. I’m so tired of acceptable food that I was starting to think it was me. But the food here brought back the reality that so many restaurants are serving middle of the road food. This place, both food and service, was an outstanding.

We ordered a wine here called “Mixed Emotions” and it perfectly described our experience. Happy company, bummer of a sad meal.We ordered dirty gin martinis that arrived half full of water, no olive juice in sight. The Bibb salad was 5 pieces of lettuce full of ennui, laying flat on a plate, totally undressed. $19 of leaves without any salt, olive oil, vinegar, lemon, anything. The deviled eggs tasted like they came from a cafeteria in the USSR. No spice or perspective. The tuna tartare was actually just a guacamole with cubes of tuna in it. Who does that?We had thrown in the towel by the time the entrees came. They were thankfully not terrible. The fries were flavorful, and the seafood stew was surprisingly good. But the tuna was rubbery and the steak was forgettable. We made this review a 1-star to balance out how well reviewed this place is. Those reviews are suspect. It doesn’t deserve 1 star but it definitely doesn’t deserve anywhere near 5. French Laundry it is not.

Only discovered this little gem in the last year. We were looking for a few specific things. Right on the PCH. Good food and service. Dog friendly. We found all three in a flawlessly executed French bistro. At least, that's how I think of the place based on the menu. And it feels like I'm deep in the heart of Paris from a culinary perspective. The downstairs dining area has the light and airy feel of a SoCal beach adjacent white table cloth restaurant. The recently opened upstairs feels nevous chick, with all the delights of al fresco dining. But as if the location and the cuisine were not enticing enough, the fantastic staff and imaginative cocktail menu really kicks the whole thing up a notch. Will continue coming back.

Prompt service, minimal wait, and a crisp chicken sandwich covered in buttermilk. If you dislike waiting and want to try somewhat upscale versions of comfort food then this place has top marks.
