We had a reservation for three nights but the day we were set to arrive my friend had to go to the hospital. I called to ask if we could reschedule our stay due to a medical emergency. Their answer was no sorry there’s nothing we can do. I asked for a partial credit or to reschedule but the lady had no empathy about our situation. I understand is a small hotel but it was out of our control. We forget sometimes that things happen and we should try to help people out. Never again I would schedule a stay at this property. Customer service a negative score.

The hotel’s proximity to the ski lifts is its strongest asset; however, the property appears to rely heavily on this advantage while investing little effort in other aspects of the guest experience. The advertised spa is dated and poorly maintained. Most concerning, the water appeared unsanitary, with a green color and an unpleasant odor present since early morning.
The restaurant benefits from being the only dining option within a wide radius, which results in significantly overpriced food. Although it attempts to present an “authentic” Austrian menu, the ingredients are low quality and the dishes seem adapted to generic American tastes. The outcome feels inconsistent—Austrian recipes lacking authenticity. Having experienced genuine Austrian cuisine in the Dolomites, the contrast is significant.
The mattresses and box springs were worn and uncomfortable. Complimentary Folgers coffee was provided, but a mid-quality option would better align with guest expectations, as the current offering detracts from the experience. The apples provided were also of low quality, with a mealy texture.
I would not book again, particularly at the rates we paid. I would instead recommend staying in the village near the gondola, which offers easier access to the slopes and better overall value.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but did go for dinner there the 4 nights we were skiing in Mammoth. The food each night was exceptional and consistent Cannot praise the staff and kitchen enough. Suberb and with 5 star review. We will be back later in the year 😊

We chose Austria Hof for the location: walking distance to the ski resort. It was a nice surprise: the staff is wonderful, the rooms are cosy and very clean. They offer free coffee and cake in the morning. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant in the same location. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

This was a nice place to stay at. Be prepared for lots of stairs. The first set to climb is getting to the lobby. We were on the second floor. Beautiful view. The balcony was shared with other rooms.

Travelling from UK to different locations of US we stayed overnight at Austria Hof and it was wonderful. Room was really clean and comfortable. There was something going on in the resort the night we stayed so it was really busy, but that only enhanced the ambience of the place. It really is a beautiful place and we would love to return one day. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we had a lovely meal in the evening in the restaurant. Only downside was there was no lift and we were on the 2nd floor so my husband had to struggle getting suitcases upstairs. However, no way did that deflect from our wonderful stay.

Cancelling a reservation is virtually impossible. We still haven't figured out how to do it. Stinks of scam.

“We ate there and the food was overall good, but the service was terrible. They automatically added an 18% gratuity fee to our check and still asked for an additional tip, without mentioning it anywhere on the menu. When we requested the gratuity be removed, they ended up charging me twice instead of canceling the original payment. Now I have to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get my money back.”

The hotel is really cozy… but I would still never come again which is because of their practices in the restaurant.

They automatically add an 18% gratuity. This was NOT mentioned when ordering and was NOT on the menu (it only states that gratuity applies for parties of 7 or more, which we were not). When you sign the check, they prompt you to add a tip again, trying to squeeze an extra 20% from their guests. They also added a credit card surcharge, again without informing us beforehand. I felt scammed.

After realizing this, we went back to the restaurant and asked for the gratuity to be removed, which they did.

One of the better places to stay.

They have deals for returning guests and 4+ nights.

Their breakfast options are limited but there is public transportation into town that comes by regularly.

They will clean the room everyday.

Outstanding staff

Wouldn't go back to this - no elevators with steep steps to the 3rd floor room.

A basic 3 star hotel but rooms were good size. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was very very ordinary. Location is good - near Village in Mammoth Lakes.

We had a one night stay here. The room was small but well decorated and lovely and clean. We also had a small balcony which was nice. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was an added bonus. We had a coffee and then took our muffins and cake with us for lunch. The cake was particularly tasty. Nice quiet stay.

The people working at the front desk were very nice! The rooms were great and spacious with a balcony. There is also a hot tub (we didn't use). My only complaint is that the breakfast was not good. The coffee was ok, but the options were limited. The banana bread and muffins were tasteless and bland. The only thing we ate was yogurt. Otherwise, the only other problem is that there is not elevator so you have to carry your bags up.
