My partner & I have been to Vulcania a good handful of times now throughout the seasons and it never disappoints, no matter the occasion or time of year. Their rotating menu keeps it fresh, portions are generous for the price, and always soo delicious. (I never knew caprese could be so damn good!) This is not one of those upscale food places where you’ll leave hungry. The GM, David, and our most recent server, Natalie, were absolutely fantastic. Service was attentive and welcoming (despite it being 7pm on a Saturday) and the vibes are comfortable but stylish and upbeat. I’ve never sat in the bubbles outside but it’s on my list for next time now that summer is rolling in. Thank you guys for another stellar experience! :)
We had dinner on April 17, 2025, with a total bill of $142.03, which we split between me and a friend. The waitress named Molly returned with the split bill, but surprisingly, my debit card was charged $142,03
and my friend was charged $71. We were shocked by the overcharge.
My friend complained, and strangely, Molly returned with a bill that clearly belonged to another table—it made no sense. We asked to speak with the manager, who apologized and said they would void all the amounts charged and that “it’s on me.”
The next day, my friend had to cancel her credit card, and I had to cancel my debit card. As of today, the overcharged amount has not been refunded, and I have already returned to my home country. There is no way to contact the restaurant directly.
I’m posting this review in hopes that the management will take responsibility and resolve this issue as soon as possible. This has been a very disappointing experience.
Honestly one of the best meals my girlfriend, her mother, and I have had in a while and we do eat out quite a bit in LA. Very surprising good, sophisticated dishes that are well curated, delicious cocktails, and fantastic service.
Absolutely recommend stopping by for a bite to eat on your stay here. Best restaurant in Mammoth for sure.
Thank you Vulcania!
Great food, loved their risotto, pizza and pasta!
The place looks like it would be a great dinning experience. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Although the food looks great, the taste was totally off. I mean, I’ve never been to a restaurant where every dish was bad. We order 5 plates. The tricolore salad. It was too tart and salty. Hard to eat. The ravioli bolognese had too much salt, also borderline uneatable. The tiramisu was burnt and tasted like char. I can go on… but why bother. If you’re reading this, don’t bother going there.
$3 for an ice cube in my old fashioned!? Geezus! The food was good but prices are ridiculous. Tourist trap.
I came to Vulcania to celebrate my birthday — a night that should’ve been easy, enjoyable, and memorable. Instead, I was mistakenly charged $190 for another table’s bill. When I brought this to the manager Kim’s attention on 4/8, she apologized and assured me the charge would be voided and my own $40 dinner comped as a gesture of goodwill.
Fast forward a few days later, and I discover a charge of $235.38 on my bank statement — a combined total of both checks, processed without warning or permission.
I emailed Kim back the moment I saw the charge. I waited patiently. A full day later, she called — not to apologize, but to scream at me. She claimed this was no longer her problem because I took “too long” to respond — twelve hours after her last email. The tone of the call was aggressive, cold, and entirely out of line for a hospitality professional, especially one handling a serious billing mistake.
Since then, I’ve left voicemails (none returned), texted, and followed up with clear documentation. No refund. No resolution. Just deflection and silence.
I’ve done everything right as a guest. I’ve been respectful, detailed, and patient. This has now stretched into a week of stress — all because of a mistake I didn’t make, a promise that wasn’t kept, and a manager who handled it in the worst possible way.
Until Vulcania takes accountability and trains their management to handle guest issues with empathy, urgency, and basic professionalism, I strongly suggest spending your money somewhere else.

Amazing pizza, we love their pasta. I have no idea why there isn't a higher rating for this restaurant. Top service, and attention to detail. Love it. Every time.
Horrible bartenders super rude fire was working outside but you can’t sit by it. Would recommend you go across the street to enjoy yourselves.
I have a love-hate with Vulcania. The menu and food is delicious and well thought out. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu and it’s nice there are items other than your typical startchy Americanized Italian food. I love the branzino and the salads. The bar and wait staff are always courteous and pleasant! However, I would have to agree with the other reviews about the host staff! They are terrible! So dismissive and rude. As a former hostess, you’re the first impression a customer has on the restaurant so you need to have a professional attitude and handle people appropriately.

Best seafood risotto we have ever had. Chicken Parmesan is also very very good. Magerita pizza is authentic and tasty. All the dishes we ordered were very good.
Food was Yum. Service was great
Had a really disappointing experience at Vulcania last night. We started by ordering appetizers (salad, Brussels, calamari), kids pizza and a few drinks.
The kids pizza came out relatively quickly. The server came back and took our main orders. Shortly after that one of our adult pizzas came out. I asked the person who dropped it off about our appetizers and he said everything is served as it’s ready and they would be out. Seemed odd as a salad would be ready before a pizza but sure ok.
Shortly after the rest of our mains came out. Still no appetizers. At that point we hadn’t seen our server in quite some time - we were ready to order more drinks and ask about the apps.
So we went ahead and ate the food. When we were pretty much done the server showed up and we told him about the appetizers. He hadn’t any idea what was going on. Frankly every time he came by it seemed like he was in a rush to get somewhere else. He was nice but he was not on top of things like I would expect of a server at a restaurant like this.
We finally just said forget about the rest of the food. At that point we had eaten and the appetizers didn’t seem appealing any longer.
The food we did eat was ok. We weren’t blown away. I think we would have been happy with it if the prices were about $5 cheaper per plate. For the price I expected something more.
The thing that really left us with a bad impression is that the manager never came out and acknowledged the mistake with our order. Literally half our food never showed up. I didn’t expect something for free or anything else simply a quick word to acknowledge our less then stellar experience.
We visit Mammoth regularly and won’t be back.
The food is okay honestly. A bit overpriced but it’s right in the village
Had an incredibly disappointing experience here. The host was unprofessional and rude, falsely accusing us of being intoxicated when we were simply enjoying a night out. Instead of providing good service, she was dismissive and condescending. A restaurant should treat its customers with respect, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
