I can’t decide whether the food or service is better. My sister even said this was the best Mexican restaurant she’s ever been to because everything was so fresh. We got the manhattan ceviche and steak quesadilla, best of both worlds. Not to mention the price is so reasonable everything we got was just under $50!! Unbelievable for being right by the beach

“WELCOME HOME” This is what they say as they seat you. Sometimes there is a wait to get a seat but it’s well worth it and people do wait. Amazing food and amazing staff. Great atmosphere downtown near Manhattan beach pier. Anytime I’m in town, I have to go here at least once.

I went there with my boyfriend and we were both nervous to look for a new place to eat. But to our surprise this is one of the nicest and homey restaurants in the area :). It is nice and priced fair based on the area and quality.

If you’re stopping by El Sombrero No. 1 just to people watch, it’s not a bad spot — the location has some charm and steady foot traffic. But if you’re coming for a well-cooked, satisfying meal, you might want to keep walking. The only standout is the free chips and salsa, which are surprisingly decent. Unfortunately, everything else on the menu falls short — bland flavors, underseasoned dishes, and overall lackluster execution. Not worth it if food is your main goal. Not to mention the bathrooms were disgusting
