We were excited to try Fete Bistro - here is what we thought. The atmosphere and ambiance wonderful! Pita and hummus very delicious. French Onion Soup excellent. Both of our entrees were average. Salmon with fries - too much lemon in the sauce. Fries good. Steak with béarnaise sauce and fries good. The service was fine, not great which one would expect at a Slay restaurant. All in all - I would go back, not necessarily for the entrees, but atmosphere and French Onion Soup.

A French restaurant with no sauce. The food took forever. The crab claws were frozen/thawed and watery with no flavor....expensive as well. The ruby red trout with no sauce had a little paprika sprinkled on it to make you believe the chef cared. The chef doesn't care. The food is uninspired. The acoustics were crazy. A cacophony blares through the dining room, goosed along by 1980's disco music. Given its price, this restaurant maybe the worst value I have ever experienced while dining.

Maybe Valentine's Day dinner is not the best time to write a review but... Food: Main courses were 50/50 - mussels were fresh and yummy; the coq au vin chicken was dry and a tad over cooked but the vin sauce was tasty. The deviled eggs appetizer was disappointing as it tasted like it was made the day before. Service was solid and attentive. The interior needs some sound dampening as the main dining area is way too loud. You have to almost yell to carry on a conversation because everyone is doing the same.

The bartenders were so accommodating, remaking a drink for me when the second one came completely different from the first and then gave it to me complementary after coming to my table to explain and apologize!

The hostess was sweet. I really HATE complaining, hate writing a bad review even more but they earned it. I took a friend to this restaurant. We ordered $115 bottle of wine. They brought out a $250 bottle, which wasn’t what was ordered. We didn’t notice it nor ask to see it before they poured it. Why? Because we hoped they would not make an amateurish mistake at this kind of restaurant when we are paying top dollar. Well they did. The GM said, well you drank it you have to pay for it and said it was my fault for not double checking that it was the wine I ordered off the list. She took zero responsibility and offered nothing to make any conciliation. The server admitted he brought out the wrong bottle. I actually feel sorry for him. If I ran this business I’d at least offer the wrong bottle at cost so at least it is a wash but Nothing. There is more about the food, and how long it took between when my date was served and mine arrived but I’ll keep it to myself. I loathe complaining. It was a terrible first experience here. I’ll never come back. They have really bad business acumen. I hope your experience is better.

Having grown up on French food, mostly Julia Child recipes, I found the food bland and unexciting. The escargot was bland, the sauce was flavorful, but they neglected to put the lemon garlic butter in the snail shells and swirling it in the sauce didn't help. The lamb was cooked perfectly, but was bland which was a real disappointment and there's a lack of vegetables sides other than green beans. The dolmatas were very good as was the crème brûlée. We liked the ambiance and the service was very good too! A bit loud with a speaker right above your head at most of the tables the dining area. Definitely room for improvement and such an opportunity for flavor that was missed.

The food was OUTSTANDING! I had trout almondine, after the house made hummus. Delicious! Our server was also very good and attentive. The only negative thing I can say is about the noise level: it was the same as being at an outdoor arena concert! This appears to be a fine dining establishment and this took away from our dining experience. It became so stressful for me that I had to make earplugs out of paper napkins to plug my ears.., it was very difficult to have a conversation, to hear, or be heard. I would try again only if I could find a quieter place to sit.

One of the most wonderful dining experiences I've had in a very long time! Delicious food, beautiful decor, and a friendly and attentive staff. Chef, David Slay is a master magician in the kitchen!

Tonight's meal was a French inspired restaurant located in manhattan beach. Tucked to the side of the restaurant is a black curtain is a "speak easy" which I have experienced with some friends a month prior to tonight's meal, fun hang out, good drinks, interesting crowd. The dinner - nice. The desserts & cocktails - fantastic. Service - good. Environment/ decor - pleasant The music - loud and on the verge of obnoxious. (Before you make judgment, I'm in my 40's and really enjoy a good music level that fits the environment, but also wanted to have a pleasant dinner conversation and not just sit there and eat. I understand there is a fine line in what is the right volume, my advice. Read the room...) Our party was literally the only people in the dining room and we politely asked to turn down the music just a little bit so that we could have a conversation around the table. They were really nice and lowered the volume, which made the meal very pleasant. Unfortunately someone kept turn it up which just ruined the experience, after having to ask again we just gave up and finished our meal and left. Sad. The French inspired dishes were well made, cooked and plated very well... everything tasted fine. Less impressed with the deviled eggs, bread was d'lish, pate was good (from what I was told, I did not indulge) scallops were very nice (that's what I had) the server kept pushing for us to add an additional scallop, two of us who ordered the dish politely declined but there was definitely a harder push for us to say yes... again- no thank you. The other two patrons enjoyed the duck, they said it was cooked very well and was tasty. Last patron had the croquet madame and said it was fine. By far my favorite course was the desserts and if that is all I ate that night would have been the best part of the experience. There were three option's, a crème brûlée, apple and blueberry tart and the last dish I won't even embarrass myself and try to type it out, was d'lish!!! We ordered one of each! Yes, do it! All in all a nice evening among family and friends, probably not an establishment I would make a return visit but happy to have tried this restaurant at least once. I have experienced other Slay Properties and have alway been delighted by the service and meals. I would definitely frequent them over tonights choice. Are you looking to try something new? I say give it a try, you'll have an enjoyable meal - as long as the music isn't like walking into a vegas casino bar.

Service was erenest but ameturish, wine knowledge was severely lacking, food was ok, but also far from perfect. Alcohol mark ups were aggressive, thought I am sure that is par for the course in this area. Not a terrible option if your in laws refuse to leave thier area of residence

The fish & lamb we ordered were so scrumptious. We just stumbled on this restaurant because there was no seating at their sister restaurant next door. The owner came by to say hello, which is always a welcoming feeling when that happens because it feels more personable. The restaurant was decorated so cute for the holidays & felt so cozy inside. The server was very friendly and they seated us right away, which was nice.
