Joey is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan beach. The staff, the food, the vibes, everything!! Ricky was the best most on top of it server I’ve had yet. + Davina was such a sweetheart.

Visited over the weekend - The espresso martinis are a must and we shared some great apps but the service was what impressed me the most. Leilani made our night - she was so sweet and professional truly made us feel like the most important guests! Will definitely be back soon - Thanks Leilani!

I had the best experience at Joey’s. Yadira was our server at the bar and she was so professional, knowledgeable about the menu and so much fun. Definitely will return.
I was hesitant about the roasted guacamole but to my surprise I truly enjoyed it. I would definitely order again. The habachi wings were good also.
Yadira made some amazing drinks.

Came to Happy Hour for an early birthday celebration and sat in the bar area. The food and drinks were amazing but what really stood out was the service. Jamie was awesome and recommend some many great drinks and food. She even split our order without us having to ask...top tier!!
Jamie was amazing, she was on it and had great energy! The burger, Supernova, and Guacamole are the best items on the menu.

Rashod did an excellent job at serving us! The food was delicious. I ordered the burger and the Baja tacos, very favorable and good portions!!! Good music and good vibes and the complimentary wine was the cherry on top. Will be back for happy hour.

I recently dined at Joey in Manhattan Beach and had a very concerning experience with food safety practices. While observing the sous chef, I noticed him scrape leftover food into a to-go tray using the same gloves he had been wearing while handling food. Immediately after, he wiped his gloves with a towel and then proceeded to serve food to guests.
This is a direct violation of basic food safety standards. According to health codes, food handlers must:
• Change gloves whenever switching tasks (e.g., from handling waste or dirty items to preparing or serving food).
• Avoid cross-contamination by never touching unsanitary surfaces (like towels used for cleaning) and then handling ready-to-eat food.
• Maintain proper hygiene by washing hands and using clean gloves before serving food.
Unfortunately, when I brought this to the attention of the guest service manager, Jennifer, her response was dismissive. She simply said, “I’m sorry, do you still want the food?” That is not an adequate resolution to a serious food safety concern. At that point, I declined the food, paid my bill, and left — deciding never to return.
Food safety is non-negotiable, and this experience left me with no confidence in the restaurant’s standards or management oversight.
✅ Health Codes Broken (based on FDA Food Code & California Retail Food Code):
• Improper glove use (must be changed between tasks).
• Cross-contamination (touching unsanitary surfaces then handling food).
• Failure to maintain proper hand hygiene (washing hands before serving food).
