I am a regular customer here and they are completely ripping me and other consumers off with the protein in their salads. Look at the chicken in the Chinese Chicken

Good food served by a friendly staff. Get there early, it gets crowded fast.

Long the best place in LA for great, traditional, fruit filled scones, they have slowly become joke. The worst was this week when the three raspberry scones contained not even a single bit of fruit. Probably cannot get any worse.

Waited for a while at the sign where it says to wait for cashier to call. The place is empty - about an hour before posted close time and no one will help me. It's a shame, the food looked really good

Similar to others - I have gone here for years and the service is surprisingly worse. Employees show little interest in speaking to customers, online orders go unfilled if an item is missing and the only option for the customer is to then wait in line to determine why their order is missing. Orders are often made incorrectly. Staff seems completely indifferent.

TLDR: Delicious bagels, awful service. If you're planning on a quick stop, think again. As good as the bagels are, the service is bad. We consistently are waiting 20-30 minutes for a bagel sandwich, even if there's not a long line. The general vibe of employees there is indifference. There's no sense of urgency or care, however, they may be somewhat kind. An extremely passive, sometimes actively slow service standard hurts this place more & more every day.

Average bagels. One time I ordered bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and was expecting the ingredients to be all separated stacked on top of each other but instead it was all chopped up scrambled with the egg. They should ask how the customer wants it first. Also, they take forever to make an order. I ordered a plan bagel with cream cheese (not toasted) and it took 5 minutes for them to realize they forgot. Two ppl before got theirs before mine. Currently, the line starts right when you walk in so when the line gets long (because service is at a snails pace) it creates bit of a traffic. They should reposition where the line begins to avoid collisions and make a better flow inside.

If you have a tip jar at your checkout counter, and you notice customers fail to put money in it, their reasons may be one-or-more of the following: (a) They didn't get a THANK YOU response often enough when they tipped in the past. (b) They don't appreciate being manipulated by the practice of 'seeding' the tip jar with cash to guilt customers into giving more ("Don't you want to be like other generous souls before you?"). (c) Tipping is a tool management uses to justify paying their staff lower wages. (d) They want the businesses they patronize to be fans of the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid). (e) They're in (or headed for) dire economic circumstances. i.e., poverty (f) One alternative = abolish tip jars/tipping, and put up a placard reading "We have NO tip jar: our employees earn (or don't) bonuses every 4 weeks based on a formula involving changes in our net revenue and foot-traffic (how often you & your friends come in + the quantity/value of stuff you buy)."

The carbs in bagels are a rare treat for me. I ordered a bagel toasted dark. I was very specific when I ordered. What I got was a barely toasted bagel. I don't recommend this place.

Have been coming here for years with diminishing returns. Today was the last time. The bagels were wet, the texture was par-baked, and came to us steamy (damp) and flat. There was also a constant high-pitched squeal of metal on metal, and the phone rang constantly.

Manhattan Bread & Bagel is a great spot for delicious, freshly made bagels and coffee. The Works bagel (toasted) with a cappuccino is my favorite. I have never had issues with service. This is more of a grab and go cafe so the casual vibe of this spot makes sense to me. Customers oftentimes leave their trash on the tables which is bothersome to other customers and the restaurant team alike. Nonetheless, I love coming here. It has become my go to spot for coffee and bagels.

The bagels here are the reason i come here. rye bagels are my favorite thing to eat in the morning and most places either dont make them or they arent good. The mornings on the weekend you can expect to wait a good amount of time. weekdays and non holidays usually it isnt too long of a wait. they also have an way to order online to save some time. Lots of parking spaces which is a good thing. the employees are very friendly and fast. overall if you are in a rush order online and pick it up, otherwise just sit and relax and have some bagels! The bread they make is also really good, especially the black pepper and parmesan bread.

If you are looking for good bagels or food, go elsewhere. The service is incredibly slow, with lines barely moving at times and you wonder how long it takes to make a bagel with cream cheese. The bagels, bread and overall food used to be good here but have fallen significantly in quality, where the dough is sometimes undercooked and the bagels are flat. For the price you pay, you should expect way higher quality, timeliness and service attitude. You are treated like a chore and it looks like even the staff are overworked. Go to Tommy and Atticus's for bagels - which are so much better and the service is top notch. Or even Noah's bagels, as that is what this place competes with now - which is a tarnish to the original brand of Manhattan Beach Bread and Bagel. And one last note, the bathrooms are not sanitary and need to be cleaned way more often. This will be the last time I go to this store.

If you like eating in a completely filthy environment then by all means come here. Either the management or the owners don't care about keeping the place tidy and the employees just stand around in the back talking or sit at the tables eating their lunch. The food is also extremely mid. I think they use old baguettes for the sandwiches because they are not warm and have no crunch.
