We love your restaurant and recently visited for my birthday. The atmosphere & service is always wonderful, but we were truly disappointed that you removed the roasted cauliflower from your menu. It was the only vegan/gluten free option for my wife . Yes, she can order modified salads or veggie sides, but no main entree options. Our Server wanted to help, but seemed frustrated since the new Chef was not able to offer any last minute solutions. And, my wife was not the only one struggling to find something to eat, since there was another guest a few tables away that was also vegan/gluten free. Yes, I know we were at a steakhouse that serves amazing steaks, but my wife can usually find one item to eat (not including the salads/sides) at other steakhouse establishments. We enjoy supporting the local MB restaurants, but not sure we'll return until there is a menu refresh.
We went there for my bday! I love trying new places and this one had amazing reviews and it was near by. We made reservations and got seated imminently. The hostess and all serves were super nice and attentive. The food arrived promptly and was DELICIOUS! The portions were smaller than expected but definitely full of flavor! The drinks were STRONG. But also I'm a beer drinker so the cocktails were different lol The server had us a desert for my bday and it was the best desert I've had in a while! Everything was perfect! I will definitely be returning!
I had been to The Arthur J several times but last night was definitely my last trip there.....ever! One star is way too much for my recent experience. Had a 7pm reservation there, arrive 15 minutes before and were told they would seat us right at the reservation time. Never happened. We waited until 7:38pm while they told us people were still finishing desert and nothing they can do. Said they were sorry and told us where they planned to seat us. As I looked over at the table it was obvious that the people there had just started desert and would easily be another 20 plus minutes before they were gone. We left Walked over to The Strand House, explained what happened. Hostess was awesome, had us seated in a few minutes and had the best short tib I have ever had. Moral of the story, do NOT go to Arthur J, go to Strand House instead. You will be way happier!
Jay was our server he was wonderful, great attitude very informative and helpful and sure we weee pleased. There was also another assistant who we didn't catch his name great personality, very attentive and went above and beyond. Best service we have had in a long time!
After hearing so much about this place, just dined here with the highest expectations. The place is very cozy but also high end and lovely. The service was good but had to remind a few times when asking for condiments. I tried the oysters and while cooked perfectly they were not as tasteful; I thought they lacked seasoning and were too sweet and cinnamony. I asked for medium cooked rib eye and got mine way over cooked and under seasoned; I’m sorry but for a steakhouse that’s kinda unacceptable. On the positive side, all the sides I tried were very tasty: Mac and cheese, ceaser salad, broccolini, mashed potatoes 👌🏻👌🏻 needless to say, parking is always hard to find around here too so plan accordingly..

Amazing food and fabulous service from John. Atmosphere was perfect! Great to see Aaron too! We will be back weekly.
We are treated so well and eat so good. High quality food with a fun twist, such as their popper bread. It's a must get.

The ambient noise reached a considerable volume, nearly compelling us to consider departing. The level of service rendered was exceptional. Regrettably, the sea bass was well over cooked. Nonetheless, the steak and all other menu items were executed flawlessly. I would consider returning to this establishment, although I would certainly avoid ordering the Chilean sea bass.
Lets start with a positive, the service- 5stars. We had a few allergies and server and chef was very accommodating. We felt well taken care of in that respect.
The rest was disappointing. We were with friends celebrating a birthday and didn't want to make a fuss and distract from our focus on them. Reflecting on the evening, there were areas that fell short of what was anticipated. And, we ended embarrassed to treat them here from out of town for the occasion.
Perhaps it was one off for the evening, but our fish was overcooked. We had a swordfish and it was disappointedly small proportioned, dry and powdery.
The marrow and toast was tasty but one has to be prepared for the surprisingly tart spread on the toast. It was too much for me.
On the other hand and quite pleasantly, the popovers and the oysters were great. The ribeyes were very nicely even and perfect doneness, albeit smaller size than anticipated. Glad we got a variety of items.
Our table was distracting and annoying. Perhaps this was also not in the best located space for dining. It was uncomfortable. We were located in the center of the dining room where every time a guest or server used the patio doors off to the side, we would get disrupted by a pull and strong draft that was uncomfortably chilly. I think a booth location on the sides might have been better.
The evening did end on a high with the server bringing a very tasty complimentary bday dessert. So I would say the service was the highlight and spot on.
All in all, priced for a high-end experience, not sure I would return. But, I would not fault our server.

This is a high end steakhouse. As such, the pricing is quite high compared to other restaurants. Our dinner for 3 came out to $600 after tip. Ordering is similar to others in this category, where everything on the menu is “ala carte” and steaks do not include soup/salad/sides.
That said, the dinner was top notch from start to finish. We all shared our meals, and had a total of 12 oysters, 1 blue cheese wedge salad, 4oz A5 Japanese Wagyu, 12oz Prime New York strip, 16oz Prime Ribeye, 10 oz Chilean Sea Bass Fillet, Beef Fat Fries, French Onion Soup, 4 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine. We were also served a complimentary baked Alaska as we were celebrating two birthdays in our group of 3. The only things that wasn’t absolutely perfect were that we waited a little long for a glass of wine when the server was busy, and the baked Alaska. It seems to have been over baked. Once we cut into the merengue we realized that the ice cream center was completely melted and it ran all over the plate.
Our server Lindsay was fun and attentive and a great help when perusing the menu. We never felt ignored or forgotten. Even considering the high price, this place is 100% worth the money. This experience is one that will be talked about for some time, and we will definitely be back in the future.

Five star food and zero star service. Didn't get seated until 20 minutes late, they let way too many people into the bar area to the point where it was hot, loud, and shoulder to shoulder all right next to our table, drinks took 20 minutes, and they repeatedly forgot parts of our food/drinks. It was very disappointing.
I had a bad experience here ! ★☆☆☆☆ — Do not recommend
I visited Arthur J (Manhattan Beach) for a simple drink at the bar. I expected to pay about $10, but later discovered an unexplained charge of $366 on my card. The server was in a Halloween/bee costume. I’ve emailed and visited the restaurant multiple times; staff said the manager was “in a meeting” and refused to take the issue seriously. This is more than a billing error — it’s a serious charge that was placed on my card without explanation. I will be disputing the charge with my bank and filing a police report if this is not corrected. Extremely unprofessional and unacceptable for any restaurant. Update: still unresolved — avoid until management fixes their practices.

I'll spell it out since it's not clear on the site - this is an expensive sports bar, NOT a fine dining steakhouse. There were about a dozen people without seats just standing around watching a game, screaming right next to us whenever there was a good play on the tv, forcing my wife to cover her ears regularly. We couldn't carry on a conversation.
We weren't seated until a half hour after our reservation. We saw four other couples who came in after us get seated.
When we finally got steak, they brought it to us without knives. We had to flag down a random employee and wait 5 minutes, watching our steaks get cold.
The food was mediocre - I've had better meals for less at chains like Morton's or Ruth's Chris. The drinks, bread, and soup were all good, but my medium rare steak was dry and the brussel sprouts were burned.
I flew 1000 miles to have dinner at a sports bar where people were CONSTANTLY bumping into my chair because of where we were seated and the large crowd. It was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, but we paid over 300 dollars for mediocre food and to be jostled around with people screaming in our ears for hours.

This may be one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had! After a nice walk out to the pier under moonlight, we headed to Arthur J’s where we were greeted with phenomenal service from Parker and started with drinks and tuna tartare paired with beef toast, home run to start the evening! Next up, the sampler plate of filet mignon, New York strip, and American Wagyu with mashed potatoes! Just might be the best selection of steak we have ever shared. And don’t forget the Baked Alaskan for dessert, it did not disappoint! This is a can’t miss and stands far above other locations we have visited in the area and beyond!
