I have quite a few times to Zinc@Shades and will continue to come back. The food, atmosphere and service have not disappointed me.

the Christmas menu was overpriced, the soup of lukewarm, the main course of halibut was dry and lukewarm, without the sauce. The dessert was mediocre. Service was good.

The staff were friendly. The table decorations were lovely. No waiting to be seated or to order. Appetizers were very good. Unfortunately, the first course was served before we could finish the appetizers. The main course was served before we could finish the first course! My main course, the halibut, was tasteless and cooked too much. The desserts, bread pudding, were dry, cold when served, and tasteless.

We enjoyed our dinner at Zinc. It was pretty empty so we weren't sure what to expect - why it isn't more popular is a mystery. The food and service were both great.

The avocado toast was a nice large portion. I only ate half. My kids ordered the French toast and the eggs with bacon and both enjoyed it.

The service from the valet driver to the Clerck at the desk to the server at our table was excellent and welcoming. Our entire visit was wonderful. The only thing I would recommend to Shade is to provide a bit more lighting for diners. I recommend a small lamp at each table which would give warmth to the table. The decor of the hotel is modern and a bit stark. More plants and lighting will improve the ambience. We intend to return for another delicious meal. The chef and his team do a very fine job.

AMAZING experience! Our group of 8 had made a birthday reservation weeks before at another restaurant. That restaurant canceled our reservation last minute due to rain, despite us calling ahead of time to ask how they are prepared, and them assuring us that it we would be moved inside. The birthday girl was rightfully disappointed. I explained our issue to the host and manager upon arrival. They went above and beyond to ensure that each guest was treated with care and that our birthday girl was made to feel extra special. The food was delicious, as always, the ambience was just right, and the staff was incredibly attentive. Our server brought out a birthday dessert, which we didn't ask for, that was the perfect touch to end an incredible brunch. Having been to Zinc@Shade several times prior and receiving excellent service, I knew that we would get nothing less. They have become one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan Beach and I am looking forward to my next visit.

OMG, we have always loved the Shade Hotel! We actually spent our wedding night here back in 2006, so it’s always held a special place in our hearts. Recently, we’ve started coming back more often — the manager, Davis, has been doing such an amazing job bringing in incredible live music.
We love having dinner here on Thursday nights and listening to fantastic local talent. Sundays are also becoming a favorite — the solo acts are killer and the vibe is just perfect. It’s so unique to have this kind of high-quality live music right here in Manhattan Beach. Shade is truly becoming something special again!
The Shade happy hour deals are awesome! Always enjoy the food and drinks at this Manhattan Beach restaurant, especially during happy hour. Service is great, too.
