Arrived at five, it wasn't busy. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. This place has an awesome feel to it. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I liked.

[Review #556] 2020 Yelp 100 Challenge (63/100) A family friend wanted to get together but we had a hard time connecting due to our conflicting schedule. Then he suggested a midpoint mid-week since I started a new job in Playa Vista. My husband traipsed his way north with the kiddos (they were on summer vacation) & Tony ventured south to meet up at Doma Kitchen in Villa Marina Marketplace Mall. What attracted me to suggest the restaurant is their diverse menu of Eastern European, central Asian, & Californian dishes. I love the open & bright dining room, where my kids took advantage to run around. :-| While we waited, we ordered the BREAD BASKET (European bread variety) with HERB BUTTER & FIG JAM. The breads were served toasty so the softened butter melted easily... the kids gobbled up the basket in minutes so I had to get an extra basket, this time trying the BAVARIAN GARLIC BREAD with YOGURT & HORSERADISH DIP. It is absolutely one of the best bread baskets that I've ever eaten. My son ate the fig jam by the spoon after we ran out of bread; he was hooked. Tony finally arrived & greeted everyone, so we quickly ordered our entrées: I got the QUINOA SALAD with CHICKEN (spring mix, quinoa, avocado, cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries, red onions, toasted almonds, citrus dressing), FALAFELS (chickpea fritters with onions, garlic, fresh herbs, & garlic aioli dip) for the kids to share, CHICKEN KIEV (panko crusted chicken with herb butter, pearl couscous, farmer's vegetables) for my hubby, & AHI TUNA NICOISE SALAD (greens mix, seared ahi tuna, hard boiled egg, green beans. baby potatoes, cherry tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives, red onions, fresh dill, mustard vinaigrette) for Tony. I really liked the quinoa salad; it was heathy & light that I didn't feel like I would fall into a food coma when I headed back to work later. I especially loved the citrus dressing that I wished they bottled it for public consumption. The kids are not a fan of falafels normally, but it was the one kid-friendly dish I could find. For whatever reason, both liked the chickpea balls & my daughter even ate it with the dip; this girl is getting quite adventurous with her 8 YO palate. =) According to my älskling, the chicken kiev was perfectly fried & the chicken was still moist with a crunchy crust. He's been eating lighter during summer months so he only cleared about 1/2 his plate, saving the rest to nosh on at dinner. Tony also had leftovers because his doctor instructed him to eat a little lighter; his tuna steak was perfectly seared with a nice crust & the interior still remaining cool. Its flavors reminds him of his European travels. Service was alright... I'm not sure if it was because we were waiting for the last member of our party, but after we were seated, the server basically disappeared & we were the only diners at that time. I had to hunt him down to put in the bread basket; however, once Tony arrived, service picked up thereafter but we still had to wait for water service & to ask for dinnerware & utensils. Hidden in the corner of the marketplace, Doma Kitchen serves excellent European & CA dishes that one might miss if you weren't aware of the restaurant. Its cuisine doesn't quite fit with the other restaurants in the mall, they're more fast food or fast casual than sit-down dining. Although there's plenty of parking, open spots may be harder to find during lunch rush, not sure about dinner though. Winner, winner... chicken dinner... Doma Kitchen rules the roost! Recommended: Bread Basket with Herb Butter & Fig Jam, Bavarian Garlic Bread with Yogurt & Horseradish Dip, Quinoa Salad with Chicken, Ahi Tuna Nicoise Salad, Chicken Kiev, & Falafels.

This place is permanently closed! The sign has been blacked out! It was a total waste of our time to come here! How do we prevent this from happening in the future!? Hopefully my review will help others not waste their time coming here! Please go some place else!
