Homey and family owned. One of the best vegan experiences ever. I am vegan, but I HAD to try the mole (chicken stock)... but when in Rome. And the mole was to DIEEEE for. Break your vegan lifestyle for this experience, trust me. ?Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options!

We went there to eat dinner for the first time. Nice little place, nothing fancy. The food overall was great. We ordered the elote appetizer and the guacamole. The sauce on the elote was very good and the guacamole was freshly made with good flavor. My wife had the enchiladas with the green sauce which she enjoyed. I had the green mole which was made with herbs, pepitas and other nuts. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. I also ordered some Jamaica agua fresca which was freshly made from hibiscus and not a powder, all the food was fresh. The service was very good and attentive. The pricing is on the higher end for a Mexican restaurant and there were a couple of other things that I wish we had known about. The first is that that they charge for the chips and salsa that are brought to the table and we were not aware of that, especially since they were brought without us requesting them. So it was a surprise when we saw it on our bill. The second is that you will get charged an extra 3.5% for using a credit card. Overall, the food and service we had was very good and we would go back.

Wonderful experience; the guacamole and chile rellenos are magnificent. The only negative would be the acoustics which make it difficult to converse with your fellow diners.

What an extraordinary experience! From the beverages and appetizers through our entrees and a superb flan for dessert, everything at Aki Fresh Mex was off-the-charts incredible. Only the location makes it feel surprising to get such a high- quality meal, served by a warm and attentive staff. Don't be put off by the fact it's next door to a laundromat and a small market. Once you step inside, you'll be SO glad you did!The four of us enjoyed great sangrias (both red and white) to start and split the Mexican street corn (soft, sweet kernels, seasoned with chipotle mayonnaise & cilantro and queso cotija) and the calabacitas Mexicanas (lightly cooked zucchini topped with a great blend of poblano peppers, corn, queso fresco and house-made jalapeño-cilantro sauce). We feasted on two mole entrees (both traditional seasoned chile-chocolate and an herbal green mole) -- both wonderful; and the yummy tacos vampire style (crispy shells with crispy cheese, filled with choices of meat plus fresh salsa, onion, cilantro, and avocado). Our server remarked as she took one of the empty plates away that, "There is no use" in leaving it.Prices are higher than you might expect in a modest-looking Mexican restaurant -- and they're still a great value. We will absolutely be back, to try more of the oh-so-tempting options on the menu. (For the health conscious, they feature a Blue Zones menu selection of vegan dishes -- which also sound fantastic.)Do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

I think what makes a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. I wouldn't pay for the chips and salsa here. It's alright - I didn't think it was good. The chile verde is good. It's crispy and tender. I would get that again. The tortillas it comes with is basic. It's not homemade. That could be a game changer if it was. The place over all is small but I like it. Trendy and hip. The service is friendly.
