We found the starters and shared plates to be tasty and creative. One of the party had the Monterey Bay fried fish with the side of garlic fries. While good we felt the plate price of $36 for the combined was too high compared to fish and chips entrees at nearby Monterey restaurants. The lemon olive oil cake for dessert was good. Overall good food in a relaxed environment.

The food was fine but not excellent. It felt like the kitchen was in a rut and just pushing it out. The restaurant is lovely, but the hard surfaces make it noisy even though it wasn't very full. Staff was friendly and helpful and served us well. Prices are high for the size and quality of the food.
My go to in Northern Monterey County for years, always great food, ambience,& fabulous service. I could eat there dailyand never get tired of dining there. The oysters are beyond wonderful and everything is so fresh and perfectly executed. Take all my out-of-town guests there, and just love it so much ...

I wanted to give everyone who reads these reviews an update on my recent review for Salt Wood Kitchen and Oysterette. Within a few short hours of posting my review, I received an email from Gary the Manager at Salt Wood. We had an extremely pleasant conversation, and because of his professionalism, my wife and I will be back soon. I did also need to share that the service and attention we received on our visit was extremely courteous and welcoming. The restaurant ambiance and atmosphere is inviting, comfortable, and has a classic feel. If you go on a day or night with music, the acoustics are well balanced. We will be back soon, and I recommend you also give it a visit.

Second time here in Saltwood, first time for dinner and had their Valentine's special menu by chef Nes'! Appetizers were spot on especially the heat and creaminess from the pumpkin soup! Oysters were fresh and soooo good! The steak was a little rare in the middle other than that, everything on the plate for the entrees was delicious! They had live music playing which complemented the meal and experience. Overall, highly recommend restaurant!

We were extremely satisfied with the diversity and the quality of the menu, each item was plated professionally, artistically, and with great emphasis on originality and flavor. After our meal members of the management team took the time to approach us to ensure our meals and experience were enjoyable, we learned that each menu item is locally sourced and carefully hand-selected to ensure freshness and quality. We had an amazing dining experience and we are excitedly looking forward to our next visit. This is our second year celebrating out anniversary at Salt Wood! We stayed at Sanctuary Beach resort last year and this year we stayed nearby but made sure to come back! We ordered the lobster pasta (excellent), their burger and the grilled vegetables, which were an all time favorite! Can't wait to come back next year!

The front of the house was very disorganized, but the server went above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience, so we left feeling happy and cared for. There was no view of the ocean where we were seated outside, only a high fence, which was disappointing. But other tables may have had a view, it was impossible to tell from where we were. The food was tasty and the portions were huge, so no complaints there :)

We ordered one of his suggestions from the shareable menu, unfortunately this in no way should be on the shareable menu, it wasn't even enough for one. It was very expensive and completely disappointing. When we commented to the waiter the service completely changed. He didn't want to hear about it. We waited over 20 mins to get the check and ended up having to ask someone else to run the card. We could see him still working but he wouldn't come back to our table. Will not ever return. Too many other wonderful places to go.

My family really enjoyed their dining experience at Salt Wood Kitchen. Food was unique and delicious and the ambiance exquisite situated adjacent to a protected natural environment. Overall it was a memorable evening. We will be coming back again.

Walking in and seeing fresh oysters over a fire pit was uplifting. The staff, the fare and the libations are wonderful. The dinner and weekend brunch menus are both varied and delicious. Meat, seafood and California inspired cuisine. We come back again to this local favorite hang-out.

Food, drinks and service were very good. The sea salt scrub in the restroom was nice. Live guitar music was enjoyable. My only complaint would be that the chairs were could be a little more spacious. We had to ask for a larger chair for one member of our party which was provided but they really should consider that not everyone has a small physique. Otherwise we had a positive experience and will dine here again.
