First thing I noticed was how clean and inviting this place is. Lots of natural light, great selection of beer, and they have pool and darts too. I’ll definitely be back.

Just a simple spot. It's the Monterey Bay area... Better than most places in the area. ? I mean.. if you live in the area. Perfect. Visiting for the night, maybe. At least they don't block music.

Passed through there and met some really cool people. Great local bar

Came here while visiting the area and sat I. The patio. It was obviously a locals spot since every customer that came thru the door got a cheery "hello" (insert name) and a hug. The bartender who acted like an owner, not sure if she was, was super friendly and cordial. She was grateful for us coming into the bar from the outside patio to grab beers and menus. We ordered the vegetable sandwich and a tuna sandwich. The contents were good it's just that the bread was way too big and it prevented us from really enjoying our lunch. We ended up taking out the insides and eating it with a fork and a small piece of bread we would tear away. Everyone was super friendly, several dogs in patio area. They also had a large tv outside to enjoy a game on a Sunday afternoon. Really enjoyed the place and will return since we will be in Monterey several times a year. We saw the salads come out and w e both decided they looked great and will be our next choice.

The otters den is definitely "the locals watering hole". It's not a dive bar; it's nicer. It's not a high-end mixology spot either; it's somewhere in between. The drinks are well made and pretty balanced (on the lighter side with the booze) which I prefer because it keeps the people who typically over-indulge out of the scene. My only gripe is that it gets very busy here and orders are taken randomly at the bar. This means that "regulars" may skip the line and people are served out of order. Perhaps this isn't an issue on slower days but this place was packed wall-to-wall on karaoke night when I visited and it remained at full capacity throughout my visit. Don't expect to find a table to sit at and - if you find one - don't expect to keep it. This is an okay place to come for a pint and one or two cocktails if you want to people watch but it's not the best spot to slowly enjoy a finely crafted cocktail. I'd come back to catch the game with friends but may look elsewhere for something more cultivated when I'm looking for something more craft. Drink recommendation; skip the mango margarita (too sweet) and go for a gin and tonic made with the empress gin. Pretty to look at and goes down smooth.

Super racist and not made for tourist at all.

Was passing through town when I realized the place we were heading had no alcohol (don't judge me) so we stopped at the nearest bar for a bathroom break and a quick shot. We ended up staying longer, people were friendly and the bar staff was awesome. They had a pool table and some other games so people were laughing and in a great mood. The vibes were good. I would definitely stop here again.

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon on my way from Monterey to Santa Cruz. It was a little hard to see it when you enter the parking lot cuz it's in a little strip mall but once I found it, the space was large and open with large windows, pool table and large TVs. Owner and bartender David was welcoming and friendly. I notice a reddish purple drink in a plastic water container behind the bar. David told me it was a punch made w vodka lemon juice and blueberry puree. It was great! Not too sweet, not too tart and not too boozy! David was very friendly to everybody there. I will definitely make a point to go back next time I'm in the area.
