Not very hospitable or welcoming when we came in. For reference, I was in a party of 9 for a Bachelorette party and this was our first stop and we came in a little before 4pm. The lady at the counter (older lady with glasses) just seemed irritated when we walked in, threw one of our IDs at us and it fell on the floor, and made a big deal that the tasting is "very expensive." I understand making sure we all understood it's $20 per person, not altogether but the tone of her voice was condescending. We ended up leaving and going across the way to the Local Grape.
Casto Oaks Fine Wine & Art is an exceptional winery nestled in the heart of downtown Mariposa, blending fine wine with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Chris, the owner, is an incredibly lovely lady whose energy is both welcoming and infectious. Her extensive knowledge of the winemaking process and the effects of the local microclimate on their grape production is truly impressive.
Chris's grandson runs the farm, ensuring the highest quality grapes for their wines. Meanwhile, Chris excels at hosting wine tastings, turning each visit into a special occasion. The tastings are fairly priced, offering generous portions and a rich, informative experience. The rustic, mountain town aesthetic of downtown Mariposa adds a calming and comforting charm to Casto Oaks.
We had the pleasure of experiencing a private tasting on a Sunday for our wedding party, and Chris made it unforgettable. The wines were outstanding; the blended red wine was the first I've genuinely enjoyed, and the Cabernet quickly became my favorite, with Jessie's Zin as a close second. Chris's ability to explain the nuances of each wine and the impact of the microclimate on their flavors enhanced the tasting experience.
Chris's hospitality didn't end with the tasting. She went above and beyond by gifting us a bottle to celebrate our marriage, a gesture that added a personal touch to our visit. Her warmth and dedication to her craft are evident in every aspect of the winery.
The ambiance at Casto Oaks is serene, with the downtown Mariposa setting providing a rustic, mountain town feel that makes you want to linger. The art displayed throughout the winery adds an extra layer of charm and sophistication.
We will undoubtedly be ordering these wines again and eagerly anticipate our next visit to Casto Oaks Fine Wine & Art. For anyone seeking excellent wine paired with genuine hospitality, this winery is a must-visit. Chris and her team make you feel like part of the family, ensuring a memorable and delightful experience.
Absolutely loved it here. We were just having a look around and got a very lovely complimentary wine tasting and some very useful information about the town and Yosemite. Thanks so much to the lovely lady for making our day.

Tonight we paired our pasta dinner with a 2011 Cabernet. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Very smooth with deep flavor. Thanks for a lovely wine.
They have phenomenal red wines and a delicious rose for summer! A must see.
My wife and I stopped in after our trip to Yosemite. We were greeted by Kris the owner who let us try the expansive offerings that Casto Oaks has. From the Cab to the Syrah everything was really pleasing. Kris was so wonderful offering plenty of stories of how they make their wine, and other local food options to try out when we are in town.I would highly recommend stopping by while driving through for visiting Mariposa. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Grabbed a bottle of the Flagship Cabernet that is aging in our basement (aka the wine cellar).Cheers!
A necessary stop if your on your way to Yosemite, located in the middle of historic Mariposa. Meet the friendly staff, learn about the vino and experience the Mariposa community. Awesome Cabernet!
Excellent wine. 100% recommended. Jason is a class act!

The area from Highways 5 and 99 up to Mariposa and the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains is not really known for wine production, and so this is your chance to try wines of the area, although they are only open a few hours a day, four days a week.
WOW!!! The chardonnay is to die for...the port: a sweet, balanced dessert wine with smooth, robust flavor...so good...I recommend this wine if you want to know what a real wine made in small batches for the finest wine...the owner was there when we visited...very cordial people with a modest personality...we'll be back...I might even dress up next time...
Went in today and the owners were very pleasant, and they had a great wine selection!
Drove through Mariposa on my way to Oakhurst. The wine tasting banner inspired a bitstop and a good stop it was ?. We lucked out as the wine maker was pouring. They have something for every palate but my favorite was the 2014 Syrah with the cab coming in at a close second. Cheers ?.
