Read the good reviews of this place and wasn't disappointed. Seated straight away on a Friday evening. Very friendly staff. Great authentic Mexican food in a relaxed place. Would definately recommend over some of the more over-visited places in Mariposa.
Just a very below average spot. Wild to see how this place has such a high rating. Chicken fajitas were 100% not chicken and when we asked we were told “it’s the seasoning”. Service is poor, so are the vibes. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.
So much better than the other Mex restaurants in Mariposa. Great food and service. Lot’s of options to choose from.
Went in not one person in the restaurant had to ask for water three times four waitresses looking at us like we were invisible sit there waiting to take our order finally we just got up and left the place is so filthy not ever going back the people are prejudiced against white folks the town is full of white folks so I don't understand would never go back if they paid me went down the street to a nice restaurant All American food very nice waitress the food was excellent everyone is very friendly definitely never going to that Mexican restaurant ever again they can stick their food where the sun don't shine
We were on our way back from Yosemite when we decided to stop for dinner. My friend recommended Mexican food so we went to Don Ruben's Mexican restaurant. The waitress was friendly and took our order. I ordered the chili Verde. The food was good but not what I expected. The chili Verde wasn't bad but they really didn't give you a dinner portion. So next time I'll think twice before going back there.
Food was bland and no real heat to anything we ordered.
The place looked nice and decent. The service was just okay. The guy serving us clearly did not want to be there and had a slight attitude and didn’t check up on us at all. The food was the most terrible part. The good reviews here have to be from the locals who like white washed Mexican food. The food was dry, tasteless, and not authentic at all. Would not come back.
Food is always great when you dine in. Take out can be hit or miss depending which language you order in. I love the chile verde and shrimp Colorado. My child loves the chicken enchiladas and tamales. The drinks are delicious especially the alcoholic ones 😉 if you get a margarita you shouldn’t be driving is all I’ll say 😂🍷 the sangria is 🔥 🔥 and don’t forget your popsicle on the way out as it’s the only place in Mariposa that sells them. Limon is our household favorite.
This is a great Mexican restaurant where you get a great meal at a fair price. Jessica and her colleague are amazingly friendly and quick and the cook is terrific.
Salsa was too mild. Veggie burrito was mostly shredded lettuce.

Great place gor big groups snd yhevgiod is great
Great food, I am not a Mexican to claim to know about authentic Mexican food, but what I can tell their ingredients look fresh, food was spicy, delicious and served hot, environment was great. This will be now our go to place en-route Yosemite with a must stop at Mariposa.
As cherry on top - this restaurant was apparently established in 1925 - exactly 100 year old.
Food is good. I ordered meatballs broth, but vegetables looked like old or like overcooked. Broth flavorless. The other food i ordered was the menudo, but was flavorless too.
The fajitas are better than the broths.
Loved it
