Good local spot for music and food

Got a combo for two, I wish I got one other meat not just the ribs. Ribs were kinda dry and fibrous. Beans were strange sour taste and dressing on Cole slaw was too plain. Live music was good for atmosphere though

Legit brisket , good beer selection, good potato salad. They stopped making their German style potato salad though and that's a shame. Good friendly service, food came out fast and hot. Regulars are known by name. A successful local business in a thriving old town Martinez. Worth a stop if you're craving some real brisket. Sweet BBQ sauce too heavy on molasses.

The smoky smell a barbecue from the street drew us in...a very friendly man behind the counter greeted us warmly invited us to sit and look at the menu. This is a very popular spot with three or four groups of people coming in as we looked over the menu. We were offered free drinks with our lunch purchase, a very nice touch. We opted to try the Tri tip sandwich. The meat was amazingly tender, bread nice n soft. It came w pickles and onion on the side. However it lacked a super smoky taste we were hoping for. Still delicious and worth the mention.
The loaded potato was hearty and my husband enjoyed. The potato salad was on the mustardy side it really took over the taste profile. Personally I didn't like it that much. I didn't finish it, but if you like it mustard, you'll probably love it.
I believe they're barbecue sauces are made in house. They have 2 different kinds of sauces, one sweet and 1 spicy. However, I will mention that I have never had a barbecue sauce like these before. They were not bad but the taste disappeared quickly. I dont really know how to describe it. Disappearing taste sauce , it did not linger on the palate , as barbecue sauce normally would? Not bad just kinda unusual. I also didnt find the spicy to be spicy ,As mentioned before, this place was super busy for lunch in Martinez and I can see why, with the friendly staff and super tender meat. I wouldn't mind trying something else again from here, I kind of wish I had gotten the smoked french dip which was on special on the friday we were down there.

Stopped by for lunch today and ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of fries. Bill came out to About $24.00. Got home and while the sandwich in and of itself was of decent size, the brisket itself lacked that Smokey flavor one expects from a smoke brisket. I added sauce and didn’t care for it at all. The fry’s were of the shoestring type and were just your run of the mill fry’s. The young lady running the register was really the star here and certainly has good customer service skills. Iam not gonna tell anyone not to stop in, but rather go check it out for yourself and form your own opinion. Please keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion and take away.

My friend and I were strolling along the marina when we stumbled upon this spot, and it was exactly what we needed after craving BBQ for a while. The Pit Burger and fries, paired with an IPA, made for a delightful meal. Josh, who took our order, was incredibly friendly and helpful, adding to the great experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for some good BBQ!

I was not expecting great cider and BBQ in Martinez. Josh served me up and made great recommendations. I had a fall cranberry and apple cider and the prime rib sandwich (only on Fridays) with au jue. I ended up coming back later to try their baby back ribs and brisket.

I like meat with a little more salt and spices for the ribs and brisket. To me the spicy sauce was a joke on the heat level. Still the place is good enough that I will come out another time for their Sunday Beef Ribs.

If you love BBQ with craft brew or cider… then you need to visit. Also they had live music on a Friday night.

"The best barbecue around". That's what my buddy said yesterday after our second time there. Slow Hand is now our go to place after the drag races.
