“I have reviewed hundreds of culinary experiences. Larrupin Cafe is one of those few places that deserves 5 stars. I have been eating there for over 20 years. They are consistent, fresh and wonderfully eclectic. Especially small and intimate. But still has a comfortable feel when in a large group. Whether date night, special event or just dinner out. It is always the perfect spot.“
“This place actually, in all seriousness has the best ice tea I've had in my life. Their food is also amazing and delicious and HUGE. The portions are amazing. The place is cute and quaint and the staff is always welcoming and smiling. They always have fresh flowers and it's cute. I love this place.“
“This is a very nice small restaurant. The menu is a bit small, so if you feel you have a restricted pallet, maybe check the menu, but the coffee is amazing!Parking: It's street side parking unless you want to walk from the plaza, not ideal.“
“Ok, so, short story of how we ended up here - back in the 80s, my mom lived in the apartment right above the music shop, which is located across the way from Los Bagels. When I told her I was here visiting Arcata, she mentioned a bagel place near her old abode. I'm not sure if it's the exact same bagel place, but sure enough, we found bagels.... and yummmmmI really enjoyed the vibe, especially the friendliness of the staff (that's huge for me as I worked at Starbucks for over a decade. Good customer service is key). I got a jalapeño bagel, toasted with cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, and "slug slime," which is an everything topping (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, and garlic? I'm not 100% on that, but it's bomb!).My bagel was so delicious and I am grateful. These bagels remind me of the ones from New York in the Jewish neighborhoods; smaller and dense as they are water boiled.Thank you so much for my breakfast, Irene and Brie. You all are awesome - thanks for being here “
“The Danish pastries were the best I've ever had. Sooo incredibly good. I got a second one later in the day.The blueberry filling was perfectly sweet and a delicate melted texture I was so pleasantly surprised by.The crust was the best part though. Distinct layers of buttery, crispy perfection. ?Thank you for the delicious treat. I hope more people enjoy what you have to offer.“
“I used to work at northtown for about two years. And I can tell you there is something very magical about this place. I have met a lot of really cool and amazing people here and made life long friends. It has this essence and energy to it that makes you feel welcome. Not only as an employee but as a customer. I have had a bunch of family and friends come up here and visit me and they have always come here to support it. Because of the unique and beautiful drinks and the unique and beautiful people. It’s a place where you can study, hangout, people watch, or all of the above. Give it a try. Don’t be obnoxious about the prices. It’s all organic and it’s located in rural area. Expect places around here to be a little more on the costly side. Doesn’t make it any less good, you’re just helping support the business and the community.“
“Update 3/2024: they changed their mushroom polenta crostini to Polenta Crostini with Ragu. While I get the chef is an Italian chef, this isn’t an Italian restaurant. While it was good, won’t be re-ordering something I used to always order. Won’t remove a star for it as everything else was still on point. Please bring back the original polenta. Speghetti sauce & not formed polenta ruins it.12/2023:511 has always been my fave restaurant here. Went there tonight and had the best food ever. It’s always been great but this was so so good. It was on point, delicious and what I kept referring to as a “foodgasm”. Food was so good that I only remembered to take pics of the main course. Forgot the appetizer & deserts. Their drinks are perfect although there’s usually a long wait to get a drink there for some reason. The Chocolate & Espresso pot de créme desert needs to stay on the menu. It was heavenly. The Bananas Fosters” Cake– Brûléed had a bit of crispiness on the top which took it up a few notches above any others I’ve ever tried. Nice touch.Appetizer (a repeat that I always get):POLENTA CROSTINI – Shiitake mushroom marsala, parmesan, herbsEntree:WOODFIRED FILET MIGNON (8oz) – Black truffle compound butter, crispy phyllo potatoes, broccolini & butter braised leeks, demi-glaceEntree:GRILLED STEELHEAD – Lobster risotto, grilled asparagus, beurre blanc 38Deserts:Chocolate & Espresso pot de créme– Cinnamon whipped cream“Bananas Fosters” Cake– Brûléed, vanilla ice cream, spiced rum caramel“
“I like the outlet. I specifically went there knowing I wanted to use texas toast bread to make french toast. The prices are good but being an outlet store I try not to buy what won't be eaten shortly after purchase. I know the price here was low because right after I went to the restaurant supply store and noticed my savings.“

“I have ordered cakes here a couple times and the customer service is always outstanding! Friendly, prompt, great interaction!! I had ordered a cake and I was running late to pick it up, I felt so bad! I called and told them I’d be there right at closing and they said no worries we got you. They could not have been nicer about it! The cakes there are soo soo good. I will only get my cake from them now! ?“
“Love this gem of a restaurant- the folks who run it clearly pour love into it and treat their employees well and it shows in the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the overall feeling of community they help foster. So glad they exist- the frittata is amazing and the baked goods are out of this world! Just had a walnut honey twist soooooo good!Only wish - that they used A2 milk- low pasteurized local milk- like Alexander“
“I have been meaning to try this place out for awhile, and I really wish I had made it here sooner. The pie was every bit as good as I had heard and despite being pretty crowded the atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. An excellent addition to the Arcata scene.“
“I haven’t written a review in a while but had to for this place! Stopped here on a whim passing through and the whole experience was fantastic. Such friendly and personable wait staff, adorable little shop, and incredible food. We had the crabby fries, a crab cake special, oysters grilled and raw, the clam chowder in a grilled bread bowl, and the trout special. Food was all top notch- I’ve never had a bread bowl grilled like that before! Wish we’d had room for dessert! We will definitely return if we come through again!“
“I really can't say anything bad about los Bagels. I get a plain bagel scramble with ham, cheese, and eggs. My daughter gets a plain bagel with cream cheese, lox, and capers. Super delicious, the staff is friendly and the store is inviting with a lot of other things to purchase.“
“Hey Juan Burritos is an Arcata gem. If you're looking for authentic mexican cuisine, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an amazing burrito, $3 pint of local beer, and the coziest colorful hole in the wall - this is the place for you! You have to love this place for what it is and forget all the things that it isn't. Their rockfish burrito is out of this world. Their cilantro lime crema makes everything better. Kind staff, welcoming atmosphere, good eats, and cheap beers, seltzers and mimosas. What more could you want?“
“Outstanding customer service! From the moment my daughter and I walked in. We were cheerfully greeted by a very sweet lady and were welcomed and the nice gentleman in the back offered us taste tests. Wow!! Now this is amazing service! Thank you!!!“
“We always have the best service whenever we eat here! I just recently discovered I have a gluten intolerance, and it has made going out to eat more difficult. Lost Coast has gluten free buns from Arise Bakery, and they were really decent as far as GF bread goes. I was so psyched to be able to eat a burger again!! And the cherry cider is so good. We ate at the bar and the bartender Marcus was phenomenal.“
“We have been here a couple of times and every time they have something really good in the glad cabinet. This time, we tried the cookies and they didn't disappoint! It was so hard to choose since they always have such incredible pies, years and other things that look so great! Each year, when we go to the coast, we look forward to visiting Ramone's for a treat! We will definitely be going back next time!“
