“Very clean place inside & outside, well arranged where they serve you a variety of dishes. I stopped here for the pupusas which is my favorite Salvadorian dish. The people tending the place were amicable & welcoming and had a very positive vibe to them. I ordered a pair of pupusas along with two Pacifico beers and it was very satisfying after a long day of driving. Mendota California rules! USA
Vegetarian options: Loroco pupusas“

“I ordered a plate that was makeshift vegan. It was a plate of rice, beans, and veggies. I don't think they normally do any "vegan" dishes, but they were flexible and made exactly what I wanted. And you know what, it was delicious. They also made the small mistake of giving me pinto beans instead of black beans, but I did not mind, since I like them both.
Vegetarian options: As I mentioned in my review. I got a plate with 3 sides - rice, beans, and mixed veggies. They gave me pinto, but they have black beans as well.“

“This little hole in the wall was a huge suprise! Recommended by some our customers, who live in Mendota, we were greeted with friendly staff, who made amazing recommendations for us.
My husband wanted chips and salsa and the owner, literally went into the kitchen and made them from scratch!
They recommended the Gordita!!! We had chicken and it was flavorful, chicken was moist, seasoned well and accompanied by a slaw that brought a perfect balance to the dish!
The sopes was… chef’s kiss!!! My husband’s favorite. He ordered the el pastor and it was perfectly marinated and full of flavor. The sopes was soft on the inside and crisp and crunchy on the outside… giving a savory and full flavor. Also well seasoned. It was topped with cabbage & sour cream.
Their signature pupusa was my personal favorite! For me it was the thick corn outer shell stuffed with cheese and carnitas. I took a bite and there was something nostalgic about it!
A few bites more and I noticed the slaw on the side… I put it on top and WOW!!! Took it to another level.
If this place was in LA or Bay Area with all the bells and whistles… there would be a line out the door!
The atmosphere is what you would expect for a hole in the wall. Just basic and older… but by the time you take your first bite, it’s irrelevant.
Talked with the owner and his sister!!! Great people! Realized his wife is a regular at Clash, which was an extra cherry on top!!! (We love supporting our customers businesses!)
If you are ever in Mendota, check it out!“
