I was happily surprised to find Saturday evening reservations available at this outstanding Menlo Park establishment. I was in Palo Alto to visit my god-daughter at Stanford and had a hankering for some awesome food while in town. The restaurant has its own (free) parking lot, which was also a big plus. We were greeted warmly and seat promptly for our 7:15 pm reservation. The services was very attentive, right off the bat, with water and fresh baked bread arriving swiftly. The lamb chop appetizer was divine and our only complaint about the delicious dungeness crab gnocchi appetizer is that it wasn't available as an entree portion (we made a suggestion to the chef to change that). She joined the clean plate club with her risotto entree and I really enjoyed the fresh catch entree. If you drink lemonade, don't miss out on the lavender rendition offered here. We were saddened that they has already sold out of the homemade snickerdoodle ice-cream, but I guess we'll have to save it for next time. I can't wait to visit here again. It was simply outstanding. Thankfully my god-daughter has two more years at Stanford!

Back to the genius of Jesse Cool! It was lost for a bit but the new chef and Jesse's recipes have made it tops again.

Flea Street is sublime. We went there for our anniversary dinner. Everything was just perfect. We're not vegetarians, but ended up eating like one. The charred broccoli, carrot soup, lemon pasta and vegetarian tasting menu were wonderful. It's a splurge, but worth it for special occasions.

All good but difficult getting a reservation on OpenTable which send a code and then kept rejecting it.

Incredible all around. Every dish was presented that showed the care and quality deserving of 5 stars. The owner came over to introduce herself, every wait staff was attentive but not over bothering. One of the best dining experience we've had and we have a date night every Saturday. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. What a gem.

It was nice but I'm not sure it was worth the $400+ tab for 2 people - 1 bite, 1 starter, 1 entree, 1 dessert, and 2 drinks each. It's just the kind of money I'd spend at a starred restaurant and this isn't quite that. Everyone was really nice and the service was pretty good. I appreciated the abundance of vegetarian options.

Delicious smoked trout first course and lemon pasta either wild rice—interesting combination that worked perfectly. Wished I had had space for the chocolate tapioca desert!

A great Dinner for four. We enh=joyed the Miners lettuce Pesto with the bread for starters. It went from great and innovative to over the top delicious for each of our group. Thank you Jesse and team.

Rude service and terrible food. The maître d’ greeted us with, “You only have two hours,” before we even ordered. Appetizers were bland, the fish was tasteless and overcooked, and dessert was mediocre. For the high prices, this was a huge disappointment. Wouldn’t recommend.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flea Street in Menlo Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the thoughtfully curated dishes to the warm ambiance, Flea Street delivered on all fronts, showcasing the best of California’s farm-to-table dining.

We started with a selection of small bites, beautifully presented on a wooden board. The whipped butter, arranged in delicate rosettes, was almost too pretty to eat, while the house-made bread and savory bites set a delightful tone for the meal.

The next dish was a crispy arancini served atop a creamy sauce, garnished with pomegranate seeds that added a pop of color and a hint of sweetness to balance the savory flavors. Each bite was rich and comforting, with a perfect contrast of textures.

Another highlight was a beautifully plated poached egg over a flaky pastry, a simple yet satisfying dish that emphasized fresh ingredients and skillful execution. The egg was cooked to perfection, adding a silky richness to the flaky base.

For the mains, we enjoyed a seared fish fillet atop a bed of orzo and fresh vegetables. The fish was cooked just right, with a crispy herb crust that added an aromatic layer to the dish. The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients were evident in every bite.

The braised beef with roasted carrots was another standout, tender and flavorful, with a rich sauce that complemented the sweetness of the carrots. It was a comforting, hearty dish that felt both rustic and refined.

We also ordered two drinks: the Modern Old Fashion (yes, it sounds funny—Modern yet Old!) and a Dirty Martini. The Modern Old Fashion was fantastic and clearly a specialty of the restaurant, with a perfect blend of flavors that elevated the classic cocktail. However, on the downside, the Dirty Martini was quite disappointing. Not only was the flavor way off, but they also served it with unpitted olives, which felt like an odd choice for a cocktail. While the olives weren’t the issue, we ended up returning the drink due to its overall taste.

Finally, we ended with a dessert that brought the meal to a satisfying close—a creamy, textured dish topped with crunchy chocolate bits, providing a lovely mix of flavors and textures.

Overall, Flea Street offers a wonderful dining experience with a focus on sustainability and local ingredients. Each dish felt thoughtful and well-executed, and the service was attentive and friendly. While the Dirty Martini fell short, the Modern Old Fashion and the exceptional food more than made up for it. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to enjoy innovative, seasonal cuisine in a cozy and elegant setting. Highly recommend!

Food was great! We loved every dish we ordered.
However, it did take a long time (~30 minutes) for us to get our bread after making our order ☹️

We had an all around good experience - service, food, drinks. There was one standout that I can't stop thinking about. The lamb chop on the starters menu was incredible. It was expensive for a single "lollipop" style rib, but that one item will bring me back to Flea Street.
