We've dined here several times over the years and the food is always outstanding. The ambience & fang shui just isn't working for us. The restaurant opens at 5:00pm and last seating is 7:30. The decor isn't warm & comforting and the service is average
Un-pretentious yet inviting atmosphere, great tasting food, concise yet comprehensive menu, attentive service. If you want to linger ask the server to pace dishes otherwise they may come quickly such that you can be done in 45min. Recommend!
Our favorite sushi restaurant in the Peninsula!!! Authentic, very fresh and incredibly amazing food. It's been a while since we ate at the restaurant as we're always doing take-out due to our busy schedule. But we're so glad we were able to meet up with friends the other night. We've forgotten how the food is even more amazing dining in. And the whole experience and overall presentation. Highly recommend this Silicon Valley gem!!

Fish was excellent and fresh. Very disappointed with the tempura. So dark, looked like used old cooking oil. Took 50 minutes to receive ramen, so we ended up taking it home. Nice to receive the 20% anniversary discount this month.
We have been to this place multiple times. One thing we don't understand is that this time the food was served in such a big rush. The staff seems to want to close the restaurant as soon as possible. We felt a strong pressure to finish everything and leave. This wasn't what we expected and we won't come in the future.
First thing I wanna say is a big thank you to our server and to the restaurant for being accommodating to us although we were about 15 minutes late for our reservation. To be honest, I wanted to love this place. But the inner decor and ambiance left a lot to be desired :( I would’ve loved if they even had some music playing or something, but all we could hear was the AC compressor whining throughout our meal…The food was also very uninspiring. The first two courses of the dinner kaiseki were good; I loved the salmon soup and the seared dish with the smoke. The sea bass didn’t taste like anything, just like boiled fish. The wagyu hot pot sounded super appetizing, but it turned out to taste like shaking beef boiled in tempura sauce. My partner ordered their omakase as the 2nd dinner kaiseki wasn’t prepared like I had asked when I called earlier in the day ??♀️ the first course was lovely, the rest of the omakase came out on one plate:the seared pieces were good, but the fresh pieces were warmer than expected and just okay.I will say the meal ended strongly with dessert, the matcha tiramisu was lovely, and the yuzu cheesecake was also delightful.Once again, lovely service, our server was attentive and wished me a happy birthday. I just wish the rest of the meal was up to the same standard.

A smile was not seen on any of the service staff; the food was mediocre; one has to PAY for wasabi and/or ginger; unknown forces crated an out of stock for EDAMAME (how can that happen??); a nearby Whole Foods has frozen organic edamame. Not worthy of a return visit.

We had an unpleasant experience from The moment we entered. The host didn't say hello, or even greet us, just said 'you need to quickly order everything because the kitchen closes soon. Our reservation was a 7:15. We looked for wine to order and the menu had a house white and red listed under 'Sake'... no names of the wine(s) just the price. The white, was listed as $19/glass and $72/ bottle .... The host quickly came over to take our order, didn't know the name of the house wine, said it was the only one. His felt his attitude was 'hurry up and order' and we found that off putting ... decided they didn't need our business and we politely got up and left

We have been coming here for years. It is consistently good and authentic Japanese cuisine. The ambience is quiet and clean. The server is very attentive. Our favorite and a must is the wagyu hot pot. You must ask them for this option when they call you the day before to confirm. It’s $90 more but very worth it.

I called in 2 weeks ago for kaiseki dinner, but the guy answering the phone did not write it down. Even though the lady apologized and gave us 10% discount, this was for my son's 18th birthday dinner and he was looking forward to it. Very disappointed. We also waited somewhat long for regular dinner after placing order.
The four of us had the kaiseki meal, and it was absolutely delicious. One plate after the other, we loved the taste, the textures, and creative combinations that respected the tradition but gave it some twist, like the delightfully crunchy granulated wasabi, or perfectly integrated mini tomato and spinach in the soup, or unagi rice to close, or a matcha tiramisu. The broth for the beef or the urchin over custard were as good as it gets. What a treat! We were surprised that it was rather easy to get a reservation. It must be the location away from the beaten track. This restaurant is clearly a well-kept secret.
Giving 5 stars for attention:This place is horrible... i was never able to order... I went in at lunch time and the person directed me to go back outside and look at the Togo menu in the window, I'm vegan so we went over the menu and I asked my questions and ordered an avocado roll and a seaweed salad.. after standing there, with my card out ready to pay he comes back and says "we only have bento boxes right now".. which I would never eat for the fact that I'm vegan. Basically I just wasted 15 mins of my 30 min work lunch.
Best Japanese restaurant weve found here! Very good service. Especially the urchin custard. Also good rolls/sashimi and the kids loved the shrimp fried rice.
