According to SLAC Cafe, what is pictured is a properly cooked chicken sandwich. When I politely asked that it be substituted for one that isn't burnt to the point of being inedible, they at first rejected that there was a problem, then presented me a tray full of equally burnt, crumbling chicken breasts to choose from. Of course a refund is not an option as the only employees available are line cooks and cleaning staff. I was forced to put the ten dollar chicken sandwich in the trash and eat somewhere else.

The SLAC burger I ate here last January tasted like it hinted at an unfortunate journey. Dry patty, soggy bun… … The hamburger, which seemed to symbolize an all-night stay at the beamline, left me with terrible memories.
However, when I visited SLAC again in August, I chose the SLAC burger again to satisfy my hunger and it tasted heavenly. A patty full of meat and a crispy bun with an appetizing buttery scent... … I don't know what changes have occurred so far, but it is safe to say that the person who led these changes has made a great contribution to the history of world science.
I can confidently say that the burger tasted better than any burger I've had in San Francisco.
Run to SLAC cafe right now.

FYI, beans can be toxic if not fully cooked.

Not much here any more
The room is quite clean, fairly spacious, with decent sunlight, very safe & comfortable to stay. Self-service coffee & tea available 24/7; and there is Verve Coffee Stand right next to the building if you want some gourmet coffee & bakery. Highly recommend & will be back next time in the Bay Area. I enjoyed my stay there. Many thanks!
One of the reasons we choose The Stanford Guest House was because of the shuttle bus. We were navigating the medical system and it was our 1st time at Stanford. Our 1st disappointment was the bus was not running because of "staffing issues". Our Second disappointment; It was difficult to sleep because the air conditioner made a constant scrapping noise that sounded like someone was shoveling gravel. Plus, the room across from us had a door that slammed every time it closed and it kept waking us up. 3rd: the vending machines were broken, so no snacks. Also, the 24 hour "Pete's Coffee" turned out to be icky vending machine coffee. 4th: the "concierge service" turned out to be bored student staff. 5th; The rooms were cleaned every three days, we stayed for two days, so we had an overflowing trash can and one small bar of soap. 6th; We were told all rooms had handicap bars in the bathroom. not true. My husband had to pull himself up off of the toilet by grabbing the door handle. He had to keep the bathroom door open to do this. All in all it felt like SGH was not very well managed. We vow to never return.
I work here. Food at this cafe is not great but not the worst.I enjoy going to this cafe because of people who work here are friendly and care customers. They greet and make sure we aren't lost as customers.I had one case where I felt very uncomfortable in the way I was treated. I reported what happened here in the google review, and complained. The person who was responsible for this case came forward to settle the case with me. This speaks for the fact that they care me as a customer and go to the extent of communicating outside just this review thread. I updated this review and would love to go back to this cafeteria for my lunch. Thanks to Stephen and all staffs for making this cafeteria work. Stephenie's smile makes everyone's day.
Personnel very welcoming and helpful. Different choices for food and beverage. Nice view
The staff is absolutely amazing! I would mostly get the grab and go sandwiches, which are really good for premade. Heads up it's not open to the public.
Expensive
Restaurantji Recommends
Good variety of tasty food and served efficiently. Probably better than it needs to be given that it has a captive clientelle; it is the only option at SLAC.
Mediocre rather overpriced cafeteria food
Great, but expensive
Best delights.
Foot is ok'isch but the price value ratio is completely off!!
