This place feels like a hole in the wall restaurant. I ordered the Tlayuda de carne and an horchata. When I sipped on the horchata, I felt like Anton Ego in Ratatouille; my mind was transported to a time in Mexico enjoying meals with my Abuelita. This restaurant is the most authentic Mexican cuisine I have had in Merced County. I will be returning again.

This place is terrific! Delicious Oaxacan food at reasonable prices. We got the huarache de mole and tlayudas de una sola carne, with chicken. Also the horchata, which was very fresh and came with walnuts and melon sprinkled on top! Everything was great, even the chips and salsa, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

ABC,123... and away we go A is for Ambiance... umm nope. It feels like an empty box. You can see the photos for yourself. I think I would have been more comfortable sitting in my car. It's so quite, you can hear a mouse fart! Bring a boom box or something! B is for Bill... umm nope again. The cost is ridiculous for the food served! I understand they have to pay rent and things have gone up, but lort have mercy! The molcajete was almost $30 and it was the size of a kid's cereal bowl! What really kicks, you ask.... let me tell you. The menu says one thing, but the bill reflects something else! I've been running into this issue in several Hispanic food restaurants in the Merced/Atwater area now. Be careful! C is for Coming Back? Umm nope once again. This is my second time here. I always give a place a second try just in case the first was a fluke or people were having a hard day (we all bring it to work ya'll, no matter if you admit it or not). The first time, the service was rude. This time, she only wanted to talk to my husband (he is pretty fine ), but when he tells you that she'll order for herself and you can't figure that out . We saw her once to give us a menu, and then 2 min later to take the order (felt like I was in beat the clock). What I chose wasn't 'available', so my hubs suggested something, and baby is magic. You can have anything you heart desires.. magic... I digress. Then once to deliver the "food". As soon as he asked for a refill on his coffee, the magic ended and I quote: "You want a refill?" "Are they not free refills?" "Let me check. " ..... 15 min later ..... "Oh yes they're free, do you want it still?" .. "yes please" "Oh... ok" 1. Not recommended 2. Service was oddly funny 3. Not returning Don't let the world steal you joy!

Oaxaca is one of my favorite places in Mexico in part because of the food. It is hard to find outside of Mexico so when I spotted this place on yelp I knew I had to try it. The food is delicious and authentic. The molotes were just like I had them in Oaxaca. The tlayuda too. These are huge so you might want to share. All the portions were generous. Even the rice and beans which I usually ignore were delicious. For those who aren't aware, mole negro, oaxacan mole, has a bitterness to it. I noted some reviews complaining about it. That's authentic so if you think that is not up your alley order something else. Highly recommend this place. If you want to try food from a region that is famous in Mexico for its cuisine come here.

Great food... I would give it 5 start but it was a confusing. I didn't know if I should order first or have the cashier sit us. I feel this a family own place. It looks like they care for their place, cleanliness, and the flavor or food. To start we got the hot chocolate and you can taste authentic Mexican chocolate. For food we got tlayuda, and picadas de mole. Great taste in food, authentic and fresh. This place seems like they keep their traditions in cooking the foods and not taking corners. Don't live in Merced, but probably drive an hour to go again.

Great authentic Oaxaca cuisine! Ambiance is very minimalist inside but the tray of the food makes up for it! I recommend the tlayuda and tamal de mole. Service was fast and friendly. Overall great experience.
