Best Restaurant in Merced! Beet salad is amazing. Never had a bad meal and always a dish that fits your cravings

Words will not fully describe how incredible our dining experience at Rainbird with the #1 rock star server, Savanah and the extraordinary kitchen team were!!! We were just making a one night stop and I searched Open Table for allergy friendly locally sourced food restaurants. Rainbird was the best match!!! Yahoo They graciously and enthusiasticly embraced my intolerances for gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs. My scallops entree with perfectly roasted fingerling potatoes, local mushrooms, fresh sauted veggies, and pea tendrils for garnish was FABULOUS!! The presentation was outstanding with the deliciousness even more than outstanding. My husband's tenderloin was also exceptional. The atmosphere and staff truly are gifted, creative, accepting of accommodations, and made our night and really best meal on a 14 day CA. trip. I wish I lived here, to dine at Redbird on a regular basis.

Our waitress, Savannah, was engaging and informative. The grilled artichoke was very flavorful and was a perfect starter. The duck confit was moist. The pork chop wasn't dry and served with a gravy and a large portion of potatoes and greens. The dessert was a lemon custard trifle that was rich in flavor.

Food was good but service needs improvement. It seems they forgot about us and were slow to return to our table. Had to follow up on the food we ordered. Gave us the desert menu but never came back to get our order so we just asked for the check. Maybe they were short handed that night?

Our server,Lilly, as very attentive. The food and ambience was perfect for an anniversary celebration. The only thing I would comment on was the noise level grew when the restaurant filled up. It's understandable but I personally prefer a little less noise. We will definitely go back.

Our dishes, salmon, sea bass, and chicken was delicious and artfully presented. Our waiter, Gino, was outstanding as well. A wonderful dining experience. HIghly recommend!

This was a very nice experience! The food was so nicely prepared and really felt farm fresh. They do work with local farms and the flavors were absolutely delicious!!!

With very few good dining options in Merced this is one of, if not best option. If you want to have a very nice dinner or date night this is the place!

The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. We celebrated a friends birthday and it was so nice, everyone talked about how soon each of us could return.

We shared the Mediterranean platter as a starter. The pita wedges were perfectly toasted, the veggies fresh and tasty, and the hummus and tzatziki were stellar. We shared the goat cheese ravioli and it was excellent. The spring pea sauce was delightful and the goat cheese filling was very tasty without being too sour as some goat cheeses are. Professional, attentive service and a peaceful well-appointed setting rounded out the experience.

Great service and food! Very nice to have a decent restaurant in Merced. Faith was very pleasant and outstanding as a waitress. The bruschetta is awesome and the Chilean Sea Bass also very good. Unfortunately, the location is in downtown Merced! The dress code is listed as “Smart Casual.” Apparently that includes ball caps, shorts, and a t-shirt that said “My Wife Beats Me.” Which brings us back to the location.... If you advertise a dress code, it would be nice if you could also enforce it.

Wait to be seated despite table ready and reservations. Placed in noisiest section despite quieter options open. Had to wait for server. No engagement from server. Only what do you want to drink or order. Took forever for food. Small portions. I had chicken it was delicious but sides were tasteless. My hubby had salmon which he liked. My son had ravioli which was so small of portion and unappealing to look at we had to stop for Wendy's to finish his meal. The breadbasket we got was two slices of toasted sourdough bread cut in half to make four with a honey butter whip. I honestly was very disappointed. Service was non existent until it was time for bill then it was all smiles. Tipped half of what I normally would. Did have complimentary valet parking which I had to search for to get my car back. Original valet when we came in was much much better. I don't think I'd come back. Total price was 110.00.
