Just moved to Mill Valley and Japanese food is my fav - Patient recommended this spot.

TLDR: Will likely try elsewhere before coming back or bringing family/friends here due to this first experience.

Service: Grill and sushi are in the name, so I got a grilled item and sushi, takeout. Order should have been ready before 7:30 pm, got there at 7:35 pm, and was told I still had to wait 15 mins.

Food: Both have good flavor, but finding a bug on the likely unwashed lettuce leaf plated under my food killed my appetite.

The flavors are great and the portion sizes are ok but the prices are a little steep. I would expect salad and miso with my $28 dinner teriyaki plate. Instead it’s an additional $9.50. My partner enjoyed their sushi. Tempura tasted fresh and clean. Service was nice and timely.

We have been considering dining at this restaurant for quite sometime. We were hoping to enjoy a nice evening last week with our family. We were very disappointed.Regret to say that this restaurant needs to improve the quality of the food & service. The furniture is torn/poorly maintained. The restrooms were dirty! The service was TERRIBLE & the quality of the food was definitely not in keeping with the price. The fish did not appear to be fresh.

I am just wondering. Where is the robatayaki in the menu? Is it just the atmosphere of robata?

Long time Japanese grill and sushi bar just off the freeway. Consistent high quality food. Tempura was a good mix of vegetables with a couple of big shrimp, cooked in a light tempura batter. The broccoli could have been cut up a bit. Excellent poki salad, with delicious tuna covered in roe and sesame oil. California roll was good too. Reasonable prices and really friendly service. Recommended.

We reserved a table for 6, with 30 minutes notice on a Sunday night, and we were welcomed and seated immediately. The water alone was delicious, and the dinner was ample and delicious. I especially want to point out how great the hot house Saki was. Also, the sweet potato robato was delicious and "wow". Great time was had by all.

Warning! Don't show up for lunch at 1:45 p.m. because they won't serve you -- despite their posted hours saying they're open for lunch until 2:00 p.m. This is not a restaurant that caters to their customers. They are obviously more concerned about closing and going home by 2:00 instead of serving their customers and honoring their stated hours of operation. Very disappointing and actually kind of ridiculous. If they intend to close at 1:45, then why say you're open for lunch until 2:00? I drove 17 miles for that lunch and won't ever do that again. I much prefer to give my business to a restaurant that welcomes it.

Overall food is pretty decent The location is right off the freeway so easy to get to during the day since it is inside a business complex. Parking can be a challenge, especially if you have any walking restrictions. The restaurant is moderately clean and atmosphere is beautiful with all of the glass surroundings however, service is very lackluster. We had to wait a few times for someone to bring us water and utensils and no one ever checked on us during the entire duration of our stay, we had to ask the hostess a few times to bring someone to the table for the check and The aforementioned water and utensils. Also for one beer and three main courses with an appetizer it came out to about 130 bucks before tax and tip. So definitely not something that's casually priced but in Marin County don't expect to be cheap.
