Two weeks ago we asked the Thep Lela Restaurant to cater my 8oth birthday dinner. We have loved eating at Thep Lela for years. This wonderful restaurant has always made the freshest most delicious Thai food in Marin. The feast that they prepared was extraordinary. Each one of my 20 guests thought this was the best Thai food they had tasted. The lamb curry was extraordinary, as were the eggplant tofu, the chicken curry and the shrimp with noodles. The appetizers, the salad rolls, the rice, all the sauces were amazing. Thank you all for your wonderful service. And especially I want to say thank you for the lovely hug I was given by the young woman who brought the fabulous food to our home.

It was cute inside, great atmosphere...only been once and enjoyed the physical location....the staff was nice.The price was $$Got the food to go and almost instantly after eating I got a real bad stomach ache and so did my bf....no wasn't from food being spicier than we can handle....decided not to risk saving it for left overs. Super bummed :(

I was underwhelmed on my first visit by meager portions and a dull lack of complexity in the pallet. It was long ago enough that I cannot remember anymore what I ordered then. I am here now. This is, frankly, the best Pad Thai I have ever eaten. I have lived in Bangkok. I find so many restaurants here in the USA make the mistake of preparing this dish in such a way that it resembles spaghetti and often, worse, a sort of ketchup-y tomato sauce. Not here. Playfully sweet, salty, sour, all co-existing in balanced harmony - and under it all, like a quiet friend, the allure of something smokey, keeping me company as I chew, and on it lasts after I am finished. Fish paste? Something fermented? I'll be back.
