Food: 15/10Service: 10/10Atmosphere: 10/10Overall Rating: 12/10Experience:I'm from the central Midwest and have travelled internationally to many countries so I have a wide interest in trying new foods wherever I go. Earl Spicy was the first "hot pot restaurant" search option that came up on Google and we hit the jackpot! We stayed in San Francisco for 3 days and ate dinner here each day. Immediately as you walk in, it smells like spices and you'll be welcomed by a friendly woman who is one of the owners. Do not be deterred by the lack of people or even the "older" look the restaurant has - it will add to the charm and warmth of being at a "mom and pop" shop. The menu is extensive, so much so it can be intimidating! But rest assured that EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, was exceptional. Nothing I put in my mouth at this restaurant was less than amazing. We have been to China before for long periods of time and this food took us right back to Shanghai and Xiamen. As we can regularily the owner explained to us that they owned two popular restaurants in China before coming to America for their daughter and opening one here. They also explained there is a patron from Sacramento who comes once a month to enjoy their spicy fish because it is just that good; and we agree. The owner, and wife, gave us recommendations every day and we were happy to accept and they were absolutly amazing. If she recommends, accept it with gratitude and enjoy! The prices reflect their quality of food and be sure to tip because they work hard; she explained that she makes the seasame golden cake and leek pancakes fresh every morning. Here is what we ordered over three days:Golden Seasame PancakeSpicy Fish (Medium Size)Egg Fried RiceBeef Fried RiceLeek PancakeDumplingsPumpkin Cake PattyPrincess Chicken WingsNumbing Chicken PotPlease take time to enjoy this warm, exciting, and authentic restaurant. You will never be disappointed here. I will always recommend and visit this restaurant whenever I am around or whenever someone asks.Happy Eating!

The Chongqing spicy noodles, tripe and duck blood in hot chili oil, and the pork dumplings were all delicious. The menu is full of many interesting dishes that I cannot wait to try, and the staff have been very polite the three times I have been here

Walk in to find a dirty place with mail on the front counter and no one to welcome or seat me. Busser cleaned tables without saying a word to me or getting staff to help me. The phone just rings and no one picks it up. I don’t think anyone works here. If it wasn’t for the people already eating here I’d think they were closed Do not recommend. Did not eat here

Don’t EVER order from this restaurant via doordash or any other food delivery service- you will never see your order.I used to call in my order an hour in advance, and then wait at the restaurant for a good 30-45mins before they would have my order ready. (That was with me constantly calling a worker over to check in on my order). All the while, door dashers/ uber eats drivers would be pulling up, also waiting for their orders. But this was 2021, I thought they would have figured themselves out by now. Turns out, NO.The workers continue to have no idea what “order” the doordasher/ uber eats drivers would be talking about (even though they accepted the order on the app. When you call our to a worker for help, they come out super annoyed and disappear to the back for an unspecified about of time. Because the order would already be accepted and technically “in process”, you will not get a refund for cancelling the order.Below are screenshots from the conversation w my dasher, regarding my dinner order that never was made. The workers are still disrespectful and refuse to service online to go orders. This store needs to be banned off food delivery services

We came to Earl Spicy to celebrate Lunar New Year 2024. Our friends have been several times and suggested it for our Lunar New Year celebration. Everything we ordered was delicious! The spicy crab was so unique. Sichuan at its' best! I am Asian and this might tbe the best crab I've ever had! The fish was also so delicious. Savory, spicy and just perfection. We had lamb with noodles which were expertly prepared. The noodles were cooked to the ideal peak. The owner is very sweet and came to our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal and to bring us a special treat for dessert. I highly recommend, especially if you enjoy lots of delicious, spicy, yet balanced flavor.

The shredded pork was very tasty 5/5. The spicy clams had undissolved spicy paste so it had that unmixed concentrated paste taste. Clams were not fresh. Few had cracked shells like it was forced opened 2.5/5. We may be back and just not order the spicy clams.

Sometimes you are lucky enough to stumble upon a place where you feel at ease with the world for a moment in time. This is one of those places.Despite the huge menu, the execution of the dishes was stellar. Don't hesitate to order Sichuan classics like mapo tofu or laziji, they've got it down. The grilled fish is intense and satisfying; despite the overwhelming flavors the chef showed restraints with MSG usage and deserves all the compliments in the world. We'll definitely be back to slowly explore the rest of the menu.
